So I am looking for a set of Moog 5399 springs. They are still listed on their site, but unavailable anywhere I looked. So I place a phone call to Moog, and the rep says they are obsolete. Only suggestion he had was to look for them at a NAPA store, being they have pretty big warehouses. Maybe there is a set on a shelf somewhere? The NAPA part number he gave me was 277-3197. Anybody got an in with NAPA Parts?
My Pro-link account just says call store for availability. Hopefully Guy can locate a couple for you.
No warehouses show them. A NAPA store would have to call jobber services to see if there are any anywhere, but I'm guessing no longer available and none left.
Good luck Larry. I had the same thing happen to me when trying to pull the trigger on springs for the Electra as Moog obsoleted those springs as well earlier this year.
Not NAPA, but did you try here? https://www.iopenforest.com/moog-5399-coil-spring-set-p-153120.htm UticaGeoff
I wonder if they can make a spring with the same specs as the Moog 5399. I may try them. Want to see how this plays out first.
If you can't find the Moog springs, here is another USA made option: Buy Quality Automotive Leaf Springs, Coil Springs and Suspension Parts for your Classic or Antique Auto (springsnthings.com)
I also now work at a Napa and I will see what I can find. I'll also do a cross check to see if they changed part numbers or something
Like I said in the Rock Auto closeout sale thread, Napa is dropping more old car parts faster than I can ever remember. Not good.
