i grew up within the musclecar era so u know where my preference lies. i do, however, love the late 20's theu 30's cars. the first real muscle cars i ever saw were a 62 chev biscayne 409 and a 62 dodge 413 in the summer of 1962.
I was born in 1977. I own: - 1963 Jeep J300 - 1966 Olds Toronado - 1969 Jeep M715 - 1970 Olds 442 (built Nov '69) I'm starting to really like 40's and 50's cars too.
Dad was born in 46....Buicks from 37 to 2003.....Me 65, Misty 71 and Tim was born in 68 and his car in 1970...
I was born in '54 and by coincidence my first car that i bought in 1969 was a 1954 Hillman Californian. It was a POS and only lasted a couple of days before I managed to blow the engine, I took it back to the dealer and somehow managed to get my money back. :TU: There were not a lot of American cars around NZ in those days and they were usually expensive, but I have always loved American cars since I was 4 or 5 years old. I was lucky that my parents did have a few American cars through the sixties, even if they were mostly 4 door sedans and right hand drive. I used to keep track of the new models in the sixties through magazines and by sending away to Detroit for the latest sales brochures. I still have some of those brochures and magazines. I like most American cars of all years but my favorites are from the muscle car era, particularly the GM A bodies, I am lucky enough to have my Buick GS, an LS6 and a 442. There are still lots of other cars from the 50s and 60s that i would love to have. :dollar:
I was born in '91 when my car was born 29 years before, making it a '72 Lark. I've had it for 5 months, and I love it to death. :3gears:
Born 1955 and driving anything from the 50's is a different experiance, Whenever I take the Caddy out for a spin I pray someone in a rice rocket doesn't whip in front of me and stand on the brakes. The 75 lesabre's all stop well enough that cruising in the city is a pleasure.:3gears:
I was born in late 64 and just started knowing about cars when my car was born. I don't remember much about the cars when I was a kid. I don't know where my love of cars came from as my father whasn't into cars. Just minimal mantainace. maybe it is because Hot wheels came out 3 years after I was born. Who knows. Tim
Well now, I'm a 1957 model myself, grey beard and all and I do have a soft spot for a number of 1957 classics as well. Truth is I have an attraction to any number of quality built vehicles of all makes and most years. My preferred years are the 40's, 50's & 60's. The 1957 Chevy Nomad Station Wagon would look pretty good in my driveway getting washed and waxed...
I was born in late '64 and I really like the 60's GM cars up to the first few years of the 70's. The muscle cars are great along with the bigger cars and even the Corvairs were very cool. I'd like to get a car from my year (64) such as a Wildcat or even one of those '64 Electras with the big straight quarterpanels. Very cool cars.
I was born in Dec. 1985. When I was born my dad drove a 71 Cadillac Coupe deVille. He always had US cars. Nothing else. I can´t remember all cars he had as his daily driver or for the weekend. Only a few that are on my mind since then. When I was 4 years old he had a black on black 66 Corvette Coupe with a 427 and 4 speed. Reved up to 7000 RPM. That was really impressiv for me. Other car I remember are a 69 Camaro SS, 59 Cadillac, 67 Shelby GT500, 71 Trans Am, and a 69 Corvette with 500 cui, weiand blower, hooker side mounts, Greenwood body, and MT Sportsman at the rear. Made 750 hp back then (1990 or so). My car is a 72 Centurion. Can´t really tell my favorite years of car. I like them best from the mid 50´s to the early or mid 70´s. But if I think of live style, clothing, music, .... i would say late 50´s to late 60´s. Maybe this is the reason why I put a 8 track in my Buick and wear my cloth like John Milner in American Grafitty
I was born in "33" .That is 1933, and my first car was a 31 Buick. I boughtit in1947 when I got my licsnse at 14 years old. If you check my signature, you will see that I just plain like Buicks. the year doesn't matter. I have all the bases covered for what I want to do with cars. : The 40 Convert is used for antique functions The 37 has a 455 and a tall gear for cruising The 69 Sport Wagon has a 350 ,AC and an overdrive for travelling The 72 GS convert runs 13 flat, and I use it to harrass kids in Mustangs and Camaros :beer :beer :beer :beer :beer
Yep, it sounds like childhood memories, what was a cool car when you were a kid with a little bit of what my first car was all play major roles in most peoples car choices. Joe- It's cool to see you still running down the kids with their mustangs. I'll bet they don't expect a guy in his 70's to hand them their butt on a plate! Been a few episodes of Pinks where the "Old guy" shows all the 20 and 30 something kids what experience can do for you on the track.
I've always liked older cars mosty 40's military vehicles, and civilian cars from the 60's-70's. There are a few cars from out side that era I like as well. I was born in 1985. It's all visual for me, astecically I find those cars to have something that catches your eyes versus the blander vehicles of today (my wife's '96 camry for example). I also don't care for all the gadets and things they put in cars now a days, I don't need a touch screen GPS or fancy sound system, or 20" chrome wheels.
I was born in 1993, my car is a 1967. '67, '56, and '29 are my favorite hot rod years, but everything old is awesome. Buick, naturally, is my favorite manufacturer. I grew up dirt poor, around rat rods, and hot rods all the time. When I was young, in the 4th or 5th grade, I lived in Oregon, and they have a Blackberry Festival, with hot rod parades that I used to look forward to all year. My grandpa has always had hotrods and trucks to work on too, and he let me help him sometimes when I was young. I have sworn since I was 12 that I will never own a car newer than 1975. Gas mileage is only a concern for those who have places to go everyday. p
my car is a 70 and born in 67, I grew up listening to stories of early 60,s and mid 60,s cars .I bought my first car a 72 skylark and once I read the muscle car review articles in 86 I needed a gs and got one and then the stage 1 been hooked since
All of my cars are younger than me with the exception of the 49. We are the same age. It is cool owning cars I grew up knowing and family members owned - mostly Buicks. All of my uncles owned Buicks in the 1950's and 1960's, but their brother, who was my father, never owned a buick. I bought my first Buick in 1981 and have bought several more since then.
