John, that was a sharp car! I remember it at the BPG nats when you were thrashing it down the 1/4. :3gears:
I think its this one and belongs to a board member http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?238973-70-Pro-Touring-GSX&highlight=LS1+in+a+GSX
That is the RideTech GSX, which is: NOT a "clone", but a REAL GSX, that Bret Voelkel specifically chose to "improve" as the company's front vehicle NOT an LS1 (or other LS engine), but a 538hp BUICK 455 STAGE 1 engine, using TA Performance parts NOT a V8Buick board member, as the owner of RideTech, Bret Voelkel's personal record-breaking performance vehicle Here's the direct link for specs of this "unoriginal/ORIGINAL" car: http://www.ridetech.com/garage/1970-buick-gsx/
^ So, THAT'S what my car looked like, when it was new! It will look a lot different as a White GSX, after the frame-off restoration is done! My favorite Stage 1 pic? This one; my own original concept (American flag within GSX stripes, to represent THE American Musclecar!): http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee208/modi_photos/Buick-GSX-1970flag.jpg Any approvals?
The painfully original "Mona Lisa" with 74,588.9 miles--(as of 01-31-13)-- + time slip 99.999% stock on (real) street tires!! -- (10-14-06)
I don't have a photo but I really liked the frame off red Stage 1 that John Chamberlain restored with the iron Stage 2 heads.
Dave painted it, but Gary restored it if I understand the story correctly. It was a real 4-speed and it was magnificent. Who owns it now??
Motor trend test car in 1970. First time I had seen another GS other than mine (in 86, no internet, saw pic on hot rod magazine?). The pic conveys the lines, the power, the excitement and motion of the car...awesome.
