Yeah, I guess my cheapskate comment was a little unjustified and pre-judgemental. It was a nice gesture.

I gotta tell ya though, I do have a problem with over tipping a lousy server. I look at it this way, they are making a bsae pay and tips are on top of that.(I know some places pay more or less base pay, but the less base pay should make you step things up on the table service, not slack off) You can never count 100% on a good tip, or even any tip with some people. So the incentive to provide good service and to seem like you care about what you are doing is to me a given of the serving industry. If someone is coming by and checking on my table within reason and not making me ask every ten minutes for something that is routine in most decent eating establishments, then to me that warrants a great tip. If I am frustrated by a server who seems like they could care less (regardless of their circumstances, I have my circumstances too, everybody does) then I could care less about forwarding their career that they seemingly couldn't care less about anyway by providing lousy service.

It's just a pet peeve of mine. Like I said earlier, tipping is weird. I do not remember seeing anybody tip when I was in Israel and Europe. In America, people spend billions on tips. People want a tip for everything nowadays. For Pete's sake, you go to a supermarket or a convenience store and they have a tip jar out. For what, making change of a dollar for me? When the hell did that all start? Half the people that drop bucks in their have no clue what it is for, but in good faith throw money in and it could just end up being for the dude's next lip piercing.
