I'm thinking that site being attacked is not random, as it wasn't just picked out of the air. Especially when the V8 site was also down a few days ago (I don't know if that was a hack or normal maintenance). If V8 was hacked, obviously some person(s) are not happy with the BPG and V8. This especially sucks coming just a few days before the BPG Nats. I smell a rat, just not sure which one...
perhaps the same yahoos that hacked the sites in the past decided to try again to see how good the firewall software is.
It's the towel heads...... They hate our way of life..... They hate where they live and thier ways for life/death.... They hate it even more when they can get a taste(of our freedoms) through our computer boards.......:TU: All they can do is sit back and watch all our fun....i don't envy them....i hate sand...it get in everything.....   Peace WildBill
The BPG board is "on thier list" now....... they will hit it until we figure out how to stop them, or until they get bored. Since they get "points" for defacing it each time.....this could go on for a while. Need to figure out what port they are using, and if they are hacking the forum software, or if there is a port open on the server, letting them in. Here is his profile page......... looks like they are real familiar with Vbulletin! http://www.v99x.com/vb/member.php?u=2957
This is a quote from JW from another thread. No, V8 Buick was not hacked-- just a techinical glitch that required a server/program restart. JW These hackers really need to move out of there mom's basement & find real jobs ou: Or go hack a Mopar or Ford board. Beth
Interesting... this could be one of many things. It could be a flaw in vBulletin forum software, but that is not likely as thousands of other sites would be affected. What is more likely is that a password was guessed, whether to vBulletin, CPanel, a FTP account, PHPAdmin or the MySQL database accounts... I have no idea. It could also be an existing flaw on "older" software that the vBulletin forums need to run. (PHP, MySQL or Apache.) Whoever owns the site should do the following: #1 - change all passwords. #2 - temporary remove all privileges for moderators or admins who are not the site owner or main administrator. #3 - upgrade to the latest versions of PHP, MySQL, Apache and vBulletin. If the current host of the site cannot provide these upgrades, it is time for a new web site host! I wish them luck!
I have to agree with Jeff: the time has come for 3dweeb to receive a good old fashioned smack-down....:af:
Dont worry, whoever is doing this has NOTHING to do with BUICKS or any BUICK club. I can guarantee you that.
nope these guys hang in groups and pass information onto each other...until all the passwords are changed and portals are shut it will keep happening....they have the key to the gate and until the locks are changed they will keep getting in
This has to be a problem on the host server. I have done everything possible to stop this. I really don't want to move hosts, but until after the BPG nats, all I can do is keep reloading backups.
Isn't there some way of tracking these low lifes? What we need is a Cyber Detective (If there is such a thing) Once we find out who it is, a road trip is in order. Then some skull cracking (That is what Doug Hecker calls it)
Is it just me, or is it a little bit coincidental that these "hacks" are occuring sooo close to when we Buick Nuts are supposed to have our weekend of fun? Not trying to stir anything up, it's just annoying actually. Seems to me someone wants to create a little disorganization...must be a Mopar guy lol. :moonu: :af:
