Interesting. I never heard that but I guess it makes sense.

    Me neither.
I meet the ends dead center on the bottom, closest to your legs with the lid open.

What’s happening with the speedometer side of the dash? It’s not factory, & I’m curious how it was modified.

They have an aftermarket cluster to go with the ECM/LS conversion

Figured it was an adjunct to the unfortunate LS swap. There isn’t a direct-fit gauge package for a ‘65 tho, & it looks like they reused some factory switches in different locations. Think we could get a closer pic to see the details?

I talked with the guys that had this for sale. Nice car and even though I am pure Buick, I would have driven it with the LS and LS transmission as a daily.
We could not agree on a price and I moved on.

    Cluster looks like ass.

Instrument cluster itself doesn't look that bad, but they could have done a better job with the black mounting overlay or background. They could've matched the original chrome trim a little better as far as the cut edges are concerned, especially on that straight, vertical right hand side. Or maybe trimmed it with some kind of edging or something to hide the gaps.

Anyone know what brand of cluster that is?

Probably available on line somewhere, maybe Summit Racing.
The cluster is ok, but yeah the bezel it’s mounted in could have had more detail, looks generic.

Thanks for posting the pics, Mark. I agree with the other guys’ opinions that the cluster isn’t great. Good concept, but execution: not so much.
