So basically until TA comes out with their new 455 blocks (read IF), then this is the only way to get a new one anyway, regardless of #'s. I'm not buying it cuz Im a poor married stiff, but not worth it for my 350 to 455 conversion no matter the price or my wallet. Pointless 4 me. I had just hoped it may help someone else here.
We bought 20 of these in 1989 ,for $250 each, when Buick was getting rid of them, couldn't get a buick dealer to order for us,had to get Classic Chevy in Mentor ,Oh. to get them for us.Yep the cosmoline is a bear, had to soak them in a 50 gallon barrel of kerosene for 2 weeks to soften it up enough to disassemble. Beware though, half of the motors had bearing issues when taken apart, anything from bearing in backwards,to major scored,to main shells being the same, both upper or both lower in one saddle.I guess quality control wasn't GM forte back then. gary
Two rod journals were nicked in the one I have. I think from a rod bolt upon assembly. :spank: Now the hunt for some std. lightweight pistons begins. Ray
