Connect the battery and then use your headlight switch to turn on the instrument lights.....measure with a voltmeter the voltage at the gray wire/socket (harmonica connector)

Ok thanks- I will try it tomorrow. On another note. Is there a trick to getting the armrest with backing plate on and get the door handle in far enough to put the c clip in? I purchased aftermarket, originals trashed.
    Thanks Joe

I hope you kept the originals....you can measure from the end to the slot where the retaining clip goes.......I think you bought the handles for no backing plates....so you won't be able to use them.

oops - the handles are not after market they came with the car. As a matter of fact they were not c clipped, now I know why. I feel better that I wasnt doing anything wrong. I wont get that hour of my life back, but boy Am I learning a ton. I just looked through Year One and OPGI, they do not list a separate door handle, know where I might get a pair?

Regarding the subject of wiring, per a recommendation on this Forum, I recently routed the battery cable going to the starter and the wiring harness underneath the motor mount, away from the exhaust manifold.

It fit nicely, and seems much more comfortable there.

The motor mounts are rigid, correct? They won't 'flex' and chaff the harness passing below, will it?

(Per factory specs, the spark plug wires on my '71 Corvette get routed through the motor mount)

    Thanks
