You are definetly right about getting the shaft at a non union company. I have been a printing pressman for 30+ years. I worked at several companies along the way. I worked for some good ones also. The last one I was at Non-Union had all of the latest technology. My production manager decided to become a salesman so he gave up the job and went to sales. The person that took over for him was the estimator, he said he was the new Sheriff in town. He decided that after 4 months that it was time to get rid of me. He made up this jackass story that I was throwing paper on the floor. The other thing was that I was not a fit for the direction the company was going in. I worked there for over 7 years and I worked overtime, worked weekends even on Sunday. I produced great work for this company. I never got called on the carpet about anything. But, I did have a 3 week vacation and I was eligible to receive profit sharing into my 401k. You have to be there at least 1 year to get into the 401k and 7 years to get a 3 week vacation, 4 weeks after 12 years. You think this is the real reason they dumped me?

This company has done this to other people in the past and others after I left.

This company does the layout pages for Summit Racing. So I say boycott Summit and buy from Jegs instead. I do.

I lost this job in the summer of 2007 and have not found a good replacement job since then. I have found some part time work but nothing permanent. I was making 20.00 per hour at the time. I now have no insurance and this has been a real struggle for me. All because some idiot wants to get his own people in there. :spank:

I wish that now I would have worked in a union print shop. I might be able to retire now. But instead I have to try to get some type of work. I am now thinking of going to school to change careers.

I can run Heidelberg equipement from computerized to old school. I can run both types. I live in the Ravenna, Ohio area. Any one need a pressman?

My point is that after one year I've had no service issues with my wife's Sonata. Not one!

Now a couple things about them profits you mention. Just because GM makes a profit doesn't mean all the money stays in the USA. Company profits of publicly held companys are generally given out as dividends to shareholders. What percentage of GM shareholders are Americans. I'd venture a guess that a very large percentage of stock is held by foreigners. How many Americans own stock in Toyota?

As far as a Sonata made in Alabama it's made from 38% American parts on an assembly line employing us workers. Usually the 38% American parts come from regional suppliers that are privately held. In that case 100% of their profits stay in the US of A. My point is that when a GM car is made in Mexco there are fewer $ staying here than when a Sonata is made in Alabama. I'd rather EMPLOY AMERICANS!!!!! I've watched every GM and AC/Delco plant close near where I live. I've also seen Toyota and Honda build plants near where I live. A lot of people I know used to work for GM, Ford and Chrysler. I lot of people I know do work for Toyota and Honda!

It may feel good to say "My money stayed right cheer in the old U S of A!" but it's not reality.

So basically the "foreign cars" are more american now than "american cars". :Dou:
