My Dad's first real car in Canada was a big black '58 Super that I absolutely loved. Around that same time I fell in love with the lines of the '59 and '60 Buicks, and vowed at that time to get one once I grew up. Everytime he strayed from Buick and bought something else, the car would crap out on him. Every Buick he had was a fantastic car. Well I've had a clapped out '60, (my second car) and I'm still looking for a nice '59. In the meantime, I thought I'd own as many as I could find or afford. I've found them to be more reliable, faster, and just generally a better car than most of my buddies Chevys were.

You can't beat the lines, the engineering, or the comfort of these cars, I hope GM never kills the line like they did Oldsmobile, and gets back to letting Buick do what it did best; - build comfortable and well engineered cars that last, and that are nice "sleepers" in terms of performance too.

I was looking out for the oldest car with the biggest engine. A friend had three '72 Rivs and sold me one. It needs a lot of work, but it's got a 455, that's one bigger than a 454!

I got my Buick only by luck. A gentleman wanted a four wheeler which I just so happened to have, he had a car that kinda fell in love with and it was a wrap. Even swap, 67 special deluxe for an 05 Kawasaki with a blown motor. You wont find me compaining!:Dou: :TU:

I bought my LeSabre mostly because I wanted something to tow my boat. My Subaru Forester does it but its pretty much overloaded. I could have got say a used half ton pickup cheap but...

-I personally like Buicks. Luxury without being like Cadillac, different than a Chevy. And I own two Buicks already

    -big block!

    -it's a convertible

-it didn't cost much more than a cheap modern pickup/SUV and I think it'll increase in value

I ended up with mine more or less by chance. This is my second car (first true project), and its been a blast. I happened to find the car on ebay. It was close enough and in the budget (almost nothing). It's been a little strange having it in the family, as my uncle had a 70 gs when he was my age. It seems to take everyone back who was around for that.

hmm.. I'm not sure any woman looks good enough to leave fingerprints on my fender!

What's worse is the ones that feel they need to SLAM the door shut when they get in every time. I'm just waiting for the 1/4 window to bust.

    i enjoyed reading everyones stories.

Mine- Dad ordered a 72 skylark...It eventually was my first car. I loved that car but I wrecked it. We had a family friend who had a 70 stage 1 4 speed car...and I loved that car, he took me for a ride when i was 14 , and I swore that someday i would have one, and now i do.

Note: took my 72 gs stage 1 4 speed to have a appraisal done at a well known classic car dealership in the Kansas City metro... every employee in the place came and looked at the car, one of the salesman said "that is an awesome car" he then said "if you would have driven in here with a chevelle or a camaro none of us would have come and looked at it"....

    They are different...

Back in 1967 my dad was convinced by a car salesman to "take that Buick for a drive" while he was shopping for a newer pick-up. He did and decided he had to have it and became the proud owner of a 67 GS400. He drove this car from being a few months old in 1967 and eventually it became his work car later up until he sold it in 1987. We had always wondered what ever happened to that car and often said we should try to find it. A couple years ago we found it just the way he sold with about 3000 more miles on it than when he sold it, it took about a year and some persuasion to convince the current owner to sell but eventually he gave in and sold it to buy a driveable 67 GS. I had looked at many muscle project cars over the years but this was the one I always wanted, that's why I own a Buick.

I bought my 70GS a little out of guilt. My first car at 16 was a one owner 70 Skylark Custom. Growing up just North of Muskegon, MI we were right in the Manistee National Forest. For those of you who aren't familiar, endless two track trails everywhere. We spent most of our time in the woods on the trails with the Buick. I completely destroyed this car. It wasn't even worthy to make the stack of crushed cars fence in the junkyard. My buddies and I would take turns trying to climb chicken hill. We made it a few times, but more than once had to be pulled home after the hill challenge. I've always wanted to make it right, being an old car guy. I stumbled on my current GS in Trenton, GA. When I saw it, I had to have it. This would be the tribute Buick to the one I murdered at such a young and dumb age. Now I also have a 73 Apollo that came stock with a 350 4V, tilt steering and A/C. Isn't there a biblical rule that says I need to repay 7x's if I do someone wrong? Looks like I need to save 5 more Buicks! Wonder if the wife will understand my punishment? I hope you guys do! Sorry about the Skylark......

i just bought min because it was in the righ price range ($2000) no rust body is straight, would start up, even tho it was not firing on all cylinders :beers2: and wasnt to far away. didnt even look into buicks, just thought, "hey it looks like a chevelle, has a 350...sold" hahaha. super glad i did tho, because after learning about buicks and finding this site i am happy that when i get to that point where i can drive to car shows and just have fun, it wont be just another SS. :TU: :bla: plus this culture of buick owners just seem better than all the chevy folks, friendlier and the like.

What's wrong with the polls on this site?? Again, can't vote:ball: I inherited my cars. Right now I'm trying to learn as much as I can about them and maybe one day I will be into showing them off :) I just love the way they sound when I give them a little gas!

A good friend of mine had traded a tractor for a boat and my 69 skylark. The car was in a barn for about 20 years. He told me about it and i bought it from him. I wasn't a big Buick fan at first but the car has grown on me and I can't wait to have it on the road this summer.

  18. Right with you. :beer I was looking for this vote category too. A Buick rumble and growl sound like nothing else. :3gears:

Wow I just love some of the stories I've being reading, some are very touching. I've been a Buick guy for years, my first was a 64 Riv I bought from a friend and had to sell to buy a house. Then I pick a 65 Riv as a project and it went by the wayside to fix up the house. Then came the big kick in the pants....a Green 70 GSX 4spd, yup you guessed it right sold it latter to knock down the mortgage, but hey I paid $3500.00 for it and got $4500.00 for it.....what a killing....yah right.

I then had a 89 Century sports coupe, neat car kind of unique drove it for years then passed it on to a friend. I also had a 90 Regal GS, drove it for a bunch of years then horse traded some work for it from a friend. Durning this time I had bought a 68 Riv and enjoyed it for awhile and sold it.

Well time has marched on life and now the love of my life said time for an old car. We walked by a nice 67 Skylark in our neighbourhod and always thought it was a neat car. One evening we walked by and the for sale sign was in the window. The guy who owned it was going back to school and was needing the funds. A quick round of negotiations and I became her new owner.

I've redone the interior and up-graded a few other things and just getting ready to get collector plates and enjoy just cruising around.

I've had alot of neat cars over the years and some very rear ones at that, but my Ol' Lark is just the coolest, it's nice to have something different and not cost six figures. My Girl and I look forward to having fun with it and meeting more Buick Floks in the future.

    Buicks we all love em!!
