In my mind I'm 21 but my Skylark is a year older than me so I guess I've got 32 years experience. Often can't remember mundane stuff from 5 minutes ago ( where that Damn ratchet I just put down ) but sometimes my memory freaks people out. Last lung test came back as an 83 year old and after looking @ X rays of my back i was told I have the spine of a 90 year old I still fit same size jeans as I did @ 18 and I swear by the ring my jeweller freind made from an old Australian penny - copper is not just an old wives tail.
Like Harold used to say " Growing Old is Mandatory" "Growing up is Optional" I tell most I'm 18 with 55 years experience.
It’s nice to see some younger guys interested in these Buick’s. I’m late 40s and I thought I was one of the younger ones on the board. Experience wise, I’ve got a bit of catching up to do, as i was out of cars for a while. Thank God the members here are mostly really good and honest people....
I'm 35, not as flexible as I used to be. Im 265 working my way back to my junior high school weight of 245 when I was a senior I was 220, that would be good again. Still have my baseball and magic the gathering cards along with my pogs. Also have my model cars that I got when I was 10 and my first .22 rifle. I watched reruns of dukes of hazzard. My first buick was an 84 Rivera in about 03 with the 307 and front wheel drive. That thing did the fastest backwards donut and would float over train tracks at 75.
I'm 36 I grew up with the A-Team, Heman and G.I. Joe. I grew up in the seats of old cars my whole life, my father always had stangs, cougars, darts, gallexies etc. Alot of my friends growing up were older and I enjoyed hanging out with people that were trying to teach me something rather than people getting into trouble.
35. Same as the rest of you....Think young, feel old, and remember all the above memories as well. I grew up listening to classic rock and loving classics/muscle cars/hot rods. Of course I have a soft spot for old pick up trucks and classic tractors too. I have been called a generational black sheep, but its all good. I like what I like.
State of mind? Called a Buick buddy to wish him a Happy 70th, he said 'I feel like a 30 year old! I just can't convince one to come home with me!' Check mate.
Geez, you guys are funny, some good reads here, but..... You guys under 50 need to get your hiney's in shape and quit whining. I've owned three business in my lifetime up until 35 as an A/C contractor and Plumber installing lines under slabs from sunup till sundown here in Florida; did one year building foundations for a cement block contractor too. Then up until I was 53 my wife and I ran a carpet cleaning business also and in this college town when the student's lease is up and the new school year is starting we would work from 8am till 11pm non-stop cleaning apartment carpets in three story apartment buildings running hoses up and down stairs. With my one truck you can make $2100-$2300/7 days/week for the three weeks of "turn". Tried hiring help but no one not even military guys or "athletes" could keep up with me and my 45 year old wife. They would quit after the 3rd day even though I was paying them $400/day cash (a college student could make their whole nut for the year in those three weeks). Now I'm 66 and just did a 14 hour day Saturday and 8 hours on Sunday (no A/C in the chiller/steam plant) after working a 40 hour M-F week at my job running a chiller plant on the UF campus hooking up an emergency generator. So suck it up buttercup! Mikey
Im with you Mikey, im a 47 year old heavy construction equipment mechanic. work 12-14 hour days 5-6 days a week. I easily make over six figures with no formal education and all the guys that I work with are my age or older. we cant find young guys that want to do the job, if we do manage to hire a new guy, like you said, they cant keep up. They look at us old guys like were nuts, lol. That's ok, kinda feel like a bad ass old man.
I was up at 175 over last winter. I lost 35lbs and Im at 140 now. Its amazing how much better you feel
