I stand corrected on the year, but still it is a car that has some Buick history. and yes this car was loud and would squel the outside tire when he turned into the parking lots. It had some really HUGH tires on the back. Get it running!!

Yes, loud. With 3 1/2" silver pipes coming out the side. Sounded and smelled so cool with the alcohol.

If you mean the year you saw it in BG, you're correct about seeing it in '88. That's the first year I went to BG and I know I saw it then.

My first Nats was in 82, I thought the pictures I was going thur were from 84. When I first saw this car there wasn't alot of cars at the Nats. This is one of those cars that you had to say "Man that is outragous!! Cool look ay those MEATS under that thing!!!"

Here is a picture from just last week after my return home from Salem. If you look REAL close, maybe you can see the holes in my oil pan!

I hope to get back to Georges car by the end of the week, and fire it up next week. Steve

Steve is that who you built the manifold for ?
I remember talking to him and selling him one back then .
If I remember correctly he said he had a very tall gear in the car (5.13's come to mind ) . That may be why it was flat on the big end . Wondered what happened to him .

    Steve,

Being new to national events, I'll have storys to tell about cars someday. The 69 GS is before my time, but there's this story of some 70 GS who's engine grenaded, and the driver caught a ride down the return road with me. I wish we met under better circumstances. I hope you get it fixed well, cause next time I may need to hitch a ride. BTW, you seemed quite calm and collective. I'm not sure I would of handled it so well.

    LEO455,
You must remember when that car was built. The scoop is definitely dated, but he hasn't touched the car in a long time. I do believe that his future plans call for several new things on the car, with the scoop definitely being one of them.

    Jim,
You are 100% on the money! The shop is too full of cars and equipment. Something has to go!

    Dave,
Yes, that's George's intake. About the time I finished the intake, George started spending more time with his kids, ---- more kids, more time. He also went thru some difficult times on the farm. Both parents passing in the last several years. He is finally now starting to be in a better position to start playing again.
I do believe he tried several gear sets in the car, 4.56 for sure, and I think he even went to 4.11's. Personally I think it could have been too loose of a converter.

    Dan,
Thanks again for the lift!! I'm sure if you go to more Buick events, you will have tons of stories! I could talk for hours about the early years at the Nats.
unfortunately, that was not my first engine mishap, nor will it be my last. Just being truthful. If you race, you're going to break something sooner or later. It's just the part of the game that makes you work harder next time.

OMG!!! That's the car that made me fall in love with the '69 GS. We have some video of it at KK (WIR) from the late 80's. I've been missing seeing it and we even tried to find it when we were looking for one. I'm so happy it's still intact and going to be back on the road and track. Yipeee!!

P.S. I'm glad it's in good hands. :TU:

God I love the look of that car! I love 69's with a passion.

Anybody ever see or know what happened to a 'Red White and Blue' 69' GS, tubbed with alluminum interior. Owned by Dr. larry Rowes of Houston Texas for a while in the 80s. God! that car was killer. Best ever!!! Well, besides mine:bglasses:

Lee just got home a little while ago and I showed him this thread so we dug out the tape. According to the announcer it was Wayne Lemke from Mishicot who owned the car at that time. Boy, I've got to copy that tape to digital because it's getting so worn out!

If I remember correctly the last few times it ran at WIR someone was driving it with a sort of french sounding last name. It was/is a name I have heard around WIR alot but for the life of me can't think of it now. I probably couldn't spell it if I could. Maybe Steve or Guy knows who I mean. Tom

The car was built by George in 1983-1984. He has owned it ever since. However, he did not always drive it. With George running the family farm, he simply could not get away on a regular basis. A mutual friend of ours by the name of " Mike Baugniet" (pronounced "Bun-yae"), drove the car at WIR on a regular basis for at least one season.

Tom, Mikes son drives a nova at KK (WIR) now. I don't know if Mike attends or not, I haven't seen him in awhile.
