    I shut my car down right after Cecil County a month ago because I had made an appointment with S&W Racecars in PA. I had a bunch of stuff I wasn't happy with this year and I wanted to get a jump on things to make sure I can get the car ready for Norwalk in April. I know that sounds funny to say in November, but I'm sure you guys know how quickly Winter slips away into Spring when you've got stuff to finish. I took the car to a shop last June to get the new 'glass doors and fenders mounted, fabricate a front spoiler and a rear wing, and cut the scoop off the hood and mount it on the motor, so the hood could be removed while the scoop stays on the motor, just like Pro-Stock does it. The guy I went to is an excellant fabricator, but he does mostly dirt track cars. He didn't really "get it" when I told him what I wanted. Everything he did, I would've liked done differently. Hence, the post-season trip to S&W. I also wanted to mount a tow hook thru the roof into the rollcage and remove the huge parachute pack and launcher and replace it with a standard 'chute. They'll be done with the car on Monday, so my buddy Engie Bauza is gonna pick up the car, bring it down the road to his shop, pull the motor out so I can bring it back to Scotty Guadagno for a freshen-up, and start doing the rest of the bodywork the car needs so badly. He painted the fenders and doors last summer after the other guy mounted them and after he fabs and attaches some new lower quarters, he'll paint the rest of the car. By then, Scotty will have the motor done, so I can just drop it in and go racing. YEAH! RIGHT!! :Dou: Well, I can dream, can't I? Anyway, here's some pics Engie just sent me after he got back from S&W today. Let's hear what any of you have on your agenda this winter!

    Winter Progress!

    It all starts with a couple of cans of Buick Red engine paint!!! On a more serious note, Greg G. has my 70 heads that will be going on this engine(.30 over 9.8 to 1 comp with new rod and main bearings). This enging had a stock rebuild on the heads and a mild cam so it's into the trash with them and some serious upgrades in their place. I'm thinking a SP1 intake and a Speed Demon 850. Should put down some rubber then!

    I'm lovin that white hood Doug. I'm guessing it's gonna get painted but it has the "I don't care what it looks like, it just goes really fast" look atm.

    You're right on both counts. It IS getting painted and I don't care what it looks like, so long as it goes really fast! If I cared that much, I wouldn't have waited ten years to repaint it. It didn't look too good the day it was painted back in '95 and it didn't get any better after that! The paint started to bubble up and then peel where it bubbled shortly after. And I left it like that until this year. She was a decent "fifty footer" but that's about it. The lower quarters are all bondo so I'm happy that's all getting cut out and fixed with steel. Any of you who see me in Norwalk will realize what I had to go through and what kinda dough it took to get me there. That's ok, I always say "It's only money, I'll make more!" :laugh:

    Not as ambitious as others above, but I'm in the process of replacing my TH400 with a stout 200R4 tranny. Hopefully it'll be all ready for Norwalk.

    Doug, can't wait to see the 65 at Norwalk. I really like the tow hook.

    I'm not really doing a lot. Just updating a few safety items. Replacing the stock, sumped gas tank with a fuel cell. Adding the correct fire wall in the trunk and adding a couble of bars to the cage.

    Also I'm doing a little electrical work. Upgrading to a higher amp, one wire alternator. Just ordered a 6 amp, 50v diode so I can wire my line-lok to my transbrake. Also I making a "Kentucky traction control device". I'm doing this with an old Dedenbear, dual timer, throttle-stop controler and a MSD multi-stage retard box.

    Should be ready for spring so I can go beat up on some more dragsters, they're really starting to hate me :laugh: .

    Hopefully I'll get the time to work on the GS some this winter :) It's been kind of tore up for about 10 years, but at least is ready for paint once I get the motor back in it (oh yeah along with brake lines, tranny, wiring blah blah blah :pp )

    I had a fairly easy winter all planned out.........UNTIL the wreck(Bobs) heard round the world. NOW everthing has changed. My 65' had a bar in it that wouldn't have passed a serious tech. I don't think. And like I said, after Bobs accident, I am looking at safety overkill building a new car. The 65 will get the roll bar cut out, and sent back to the street with a SBB and a 200R4(and maybe a for sale sign too).

    All of the race stuff is gonna be sunk into the 67' GS I have here sitting doing nothing. I have taken a little heat already for setting out to race a 9500 mile original GS, but I am not gonna "butcher" too much on it :Brow: . Burek is underway on the new motor now, Scott King is ready to freshen up the trans if I ever get it to him. And I haven't had the rear cover off the rear in 2 years now. So it'll get a look-see too. Other than that its all easy for me. First task is getting a roll bar in the car. Gonna take my time and it will be in with safety being #1. I have 3 boys that I don't want to orphan, and I ain't gonna stop racing(I ain't dead yet,lol).

    Basically I was gonna do all the same work anyways. Now though, the parts are gonna be aimed at a new body. No problem right ???? Well .........yea. Famous last words. Doubt it will be in paint any time soon, but like I told the wife, after the new motor and such, this one is gonna have to "work to deserve it's paint"...........

    Mission= 10's on 9's, looking like junk !

    Later...................
