I was considering going back next month to get that '73 motor. It is COMPLETE....carb..exhaust manifolds...A/C compressor. I am just on a limited budget or I would have taken all three engines. My money problems should be improving soon though...I hope.

I think it is great that there will be new engine blocks available soon...but at $3500 a pop, It will be a while before I can afford one. I can swing a few hundred here and there, but....

I've been in your shoes before as well.

Take it easy and concentrate on getting the 70 up and running...you might get lucky and not have to bore it.

and forget about the spares...I did that deal a few years ago, bought 4 or 5 extra engines...then woke up one day and noticed I had a bunch of cores and my project wasn't finished.

Maybe it's just me but id rather be driving my project than playing with abunch of greasy motors. Not that greasy motors aren't fun.

There's no availability problems around here...if you need a core to build there are plenty still out there.

Only reason to have the extra 73 is for back-up. He may take the 70 to the machine shop and then learn block has a crack, lifter bores are misaligned, sonic testing shows cylinder walls are too thin, etc. Then you have to go out and find another 455 to pull and hopefully get one you can build. Just wasting more time. Better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.:Smarty:
