Rich.....I would rather not at this time as I am not the owner at this time. I think you may understand........
I have sent numerous pieces of interest to the current owner......

A tidbit of info.....the original owner (that I got it from) was contemplating putting a hitch on it to tow his horse trailer!!!!

    No problem Bruce.
These cars were ordered by real people for real life back in the day!
I have a 70 GS 455 conv in storage that has the factory trailer hitch option.
People needed to haul and pull stuff so what was better than a Big Block GS!

Rich....my other GSX (the yellow one in the pic) had or has a very interesting history. The original owner was a vice principal of a HS and the seats and wheels/tires were stolen in his driveway. He found out who did it and prosecuted them. Then they did a drive by and shot the car. One of the first repairs I did was fill the bullet hole and paint it.
The owner went on numerous camping trips towing a camper to Sandusky, Ohio and also ski trips to Canada!!!
To top it off he was a gemologist/jewlery maker and would go out west to get rocks! Had a roof rack, trailer and a trunk full of rocks. (as well as rocks in his head!!!) The roof rack was so loaded that on a big bump it went up and down and dented the roof. He complained that it over heated going cross country.....I wonder why!!!!!????:Dou:
Then I got the car and blew the motor and rebuilt it and raced it for many years and LOTS of quarter mile passes. Motor still ran great when sold in about 1997.

There's a member on this board with another 70 Stage 1 that the original owner bought specifically to tow a boat and it had the factory trailer hitch. Back in the day when I was a junkyard dog I stopped off at a local wrecking yard (driving my GSX by the way :) ) and there was a white 70 Stage 1 in the parking lot. I met the guy out in the parking lot as he was leaving. He was the original owner and relayed the story of towing his boat with his previous car....a 69 GS400 convertible! He upped the size of his boat so by logic he needed to up the hp of his tow vehicle. This guy was retired and in his late 60's at the time. We had a great visit and exchanged phone numbers. Several years later he called as he was selling. I spread the word locally and a guy in our GS club ended up buying the car. I built the engine for the guy and he raced it in that newly established Musclecar racing association....can't remember the name, in the mid to early 80's. He held the record too for a while :TU: He moved to Texas and got heavy into racing in that class, eventually ended up selling the car. Some of the Texas members may remember that car. Maybe the current owner will see this and chime in. It was a white, bucket seat, auto car with the forced comfort flo ventilation.
Sorry to hijack your thread Bruce, I get a little caught up with some of the nostalgia....... always brings a smile to my face, and your 71 was a gorgeous car!!

Bruce and Dave those are both great stories of how BB GS cars were ordered and than used back in the day.
All this time later we view our GS cars as high performance fast cars, but back than, a lot of people just viewed them as a means to get a powerful car to do serious hauling.

    Bruce,

Sounds like a really nice car, didn't you have two GSX at that time?
