Well guy I think the timing rite I hope but somethings still wrong all I hear is poof from the exhaust doesn't matter what way I turn the dizzy.and it does matter how much gas I pump in it mite it be the carb or is the timing still out
Sounds like your pumping too much fuel in it. Pull plugs and clean them. You might have flooded the motor trying to start it. Take s good look at them as you pull them .note are the black , wet, leave them out for awhile to let any gas in cylinder dry out.
we pulled the plug and there not wet it only a 2bbl carb I hope it not to much for this motor the is a 74 350,40 over, ported heads.the cam is a crower .533/562 at 104 speed pro 10.5/1 pistons the block mill to zero oil passage been drilled to 1/2" .so maybe the carb is bad ist holley 2300 from my old stock car
We did to the top of the piston.do you really think that's a monster cam the machine shop said this was the only cam that would give me the prostock sound that I was wanting without giving up power
This is getting more scary by the minute. What are the actual specs on this cam, or at least the Crower part number??? Devon
I was thinking since you say it fires but won't run, you get popping noises like it wants to start my thoughts with that cam and zero deck makes me wonder if valves didn't make contact with some pistons. ---------- Post added at 06:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:46 PM ---------- I think that cam needs to idle higher then stock too. Is that engine for circle track?
It for the street but there's a lot of stock car stuff on it ---------- Post added at 07:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:02 PM ---------- Cam is crower #50261 Intake dura. 304 lift .533 Exhaust 312 lift .562 Lobe center 104 Lobe seperation 108 My springs are duals with spring pressure closed 105/115 lbs Open is 265/275 lbd
I'm thinking cylinder leak test or pull head.I am going to suggest pulling valve covers and carefully watching valves as you turn over engine.
I wish this thing would let me put video so you guy can see what I'm dealing with.I've built tons of chevys but this is my first sbb.it not going so well haha ---------- Post added at 07:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:23 PM ---------- My valve covers are off already what should I be looking for I don't see any coil bind
Pull the rockers off and lay straight edge across the valve tips, check pushrods to see if they still straight
The straight edge test has to be done with the rocker assemblies removed, all valves closed. If a valve is bent, it may show as the tip being lower than others. Of course this is assuming all stem heights were equalized by the shop properly, as they should have been. Devon
You think the exhaust mite not be closing or it be hitting ---------- Post added at 09:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:28 PM ---------- Ok guy ill try tomorrow to see if ibent a valve
We are just covering what it could be with your engine and the info you have given. But yes the cam is rather large.
I also think that you should look for help from a "live person" with a little bit more knowledge. But on the other hand: the basics of a Buick engine are not different from a Chevrolet engine, and since you claim this:
