Whats a good stall torque converter? i was thinking a 2600 or 2800 stall and a stage 2 shift kit from b&m. Also am buying a set of 3.42 gears and a series 3 posi.that should help my times out.
Sounds like some nice builds. Here is my buildup hopefully it will run well Car 72 Buick skylark (GS clone) 70 350 10 to 1 (hypers) Late model cap crew rods Ported heads from Jim B (PAE) 280int 201Exh GS111 CAM TA stage1 intake 850 Demon carb Transmission 2004R - 2600 stall 373 rear gears Hopefully it will run pretty strong. Good to hear others are taking an intrest in the 350's :TU:
Phil, what did the head job cost you from PAE? i want to have my spare set reworked and fitted for dual valve springs. just curious at how much yours cost you. Whats with PAE's website? everything i type it into search, nothing comes up.
To be honest with you, I had a special deal going on with Jim. He did however state that if he was to do another set like mine it would be around 1600 or so. :TU:
I have to ask about some 1/4 mile times here. I have 350 with 371hp and 400lbs of torque (on dyno) in my 72 convertible but my best time is only 14.01 at 98mph. I am running the GS112 cam and I think that it is too much cam for my 3.08 gears. The motor pulls strong up to the 5,700rpm's that we limited it on the dyno. I have the timing correct 34 total at @ 2,000 rpm's. I tried different timing but it was this seemed to work the best. I was not running slicks, the times are in true street trim. I have the Flowmater 3.2" exhaust with the 30 series mufflers. I am running a 750 quad that was tuned by JW and it runs great. I am probably going to switch to 3.73 gears. It seems that I should be quicker????????? Tim
On my best run I had 1.98 60' time. My stall is around 2,600rpm's, I do have some wheel spin but not too bad, I feel that the car is a little doggy off of the line but gears will fix that. Tim
From Poston Site. I think the Cam will like the 373's better than the 308's. I think the cam would like the gears to get it in its power band quicker. Also how well does the 750 flow. It is my experience that these cams like a little more CFM. :TU:
See my dyno runs at this thread, go to post #22 where JW posted my results. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=54585&highlight=ta+intake+stock Tim
Carb and Gears. I will be running an 850 demon and GS111 cam with 10 to 1 pistons and ported heads. The verdict should be out on my motor in a few weeks cross your fingers for me! :TU:
i was doing a search on the poston s divider and came across a page. The guy said that when he bolted on a s divider, ran it on the dyno, he lost HP. Then he added a 1" 4 hole spacer and the #'s went up 40hp. I just bought a poston and am installing it now. Already have the carb and spacer mounted up. Cant wait to try it out. Should i use a stock 190* thermo or a 165* ?
Tim Tim, My 82 Regal is running 14.4 @ 94 with street tires which went up in smoke. I have 3.42 in back, think I will change to 3.08's as the engine is over spinnig in 1/4. Before you change the rear try some drag tires. Diver
What RPM's are you turning through the traps??? My engine is going through at about 5,100 and I even left it in second gear once to keep the car pulling through its power band. My engine can safely spin 5,700-6,000 rpm's. I am running 295x50 on the rear wich are 26.7" tall, how tall are your tires? Tim
