My first ride in a real muscle car was in 96. A guy I worked with as a lifeguard had a 72 GS 350. It was rough then and rougher now (190,000 miles in Pittsburgh will do that to a car). It ran on 7 cylinders and had a shift kit. It was a great car to beat on since it was in such bad shape. I bought the car about 8 years ago for $600. I overpaid but I couldn't see it go away. The hood and the core support are the only good parts on it. Everything else is rust. If I pushed hard enough I'd go right through the vinyl roof into the interior. Here's a pic right after I picked it up. The pic makes the car look a lot better than it really is.

Man the ole days...lol..that's one of the funniest things I've read. When I was a kid my dad had a 65 Mustang, then a 63 Ford Fairlane sports coupe.

My son goes to school in dads 92 supercharged Five-O Mustang. Here's the grin to prove it....lol

First Blast for me was when I was about 9, and it was in the 60's.
The Teenage son of my Dad's best friend stopped by our house to say hello to the family and showoff his new "for him" car, as he was in the neighborhood.
I asked him for a ride in his '66 BMW 2002 stick, as I'd never seen one and he said he just got it.
Tho not your typical musclecar, I remember him standing on it in first and second gear up a narrow city block, and I remember to this day it felt quick.....

First Musclecar ride was in the early 70's when I was 13. My friend's dad had a coupl'a friends over the house. One with an Orange with White top & Bucket interior Dodge Charger R/T (440,Auto), while the other guy had a '66 442, with its 400 eng and a 4 speed stick. Maroon with Black Bucket interior.

They decided to take a ride over to the local ballfield with my friend's dad, my friend's 3 brother's, and the two of us. (8 in total, 4 in each car).

I remember us coming off a light and I was in the 442 with my buddy, and we all had been egging them on, hanging out the window's, etc.

I remember the 442 rolling out first and the Charger being on the 442's rear bumper, then I heard it openup the throttle.
The 442 cranked up first gear, into second, and held off the Charger until he got into 3rd gear and let off.
The 440 R/T stayed into it and rode on by. I have to figure if 3 kids weren't in the car, the 442 owner maybe wouldn't have showed such restraint. But he was right for doing so.
My first car was a '67 442. I was 14, and bought it after I sold my mini bike, counted up my paper route money and did alot of begging. :bla:

My first ride in a muscle car was in in a 1967 firebird 400, 2dr ht, th400, posi, manual ram air, when the car was only a few days old. Having driven 283 (195 hp)pontiacs, this fbird was fast.
Or would u consider a 1957 oldsmobile super 88, 371 ci (277 hp)? That car had great top end speed. My uncle purchased that car new and i had a couple of rides in it.

That'd have been 25 years ago in my boyfriend's 1964 Impala. The sound of the car left more of an impression on me that the guy.
