Either my dad's Road Runner or his Cuda:3gears:.

I would have to ask him which one he put me in at first but I'm sure I could not have been more than a few months old.

Today was my first ride in a true Muscle Car! I think I did it right too, in a Buick. More specifically, a 1970 GS455 Stage1 4 speed convertible. :3gears: I was very impressed, what a great car!

My first ride in a muscle car was in my dads '73 camaro LT on the way home from the hospital after I was born. My dad sold the car later that year to some kid up the block who supposedly crashed it. Then in high school my buddy acquired a '67 GTO :3gears:

69 Camaro 396(375hp) 4 spd with 4.11 gears. I was 5 or 6 so it had to be around 76 or 77. I can still remember getting planted in the seat. The car still belongs to the original owner and is a low miles survivor.

First fast car ride was in a 64 409 Impala in 65.

The first fastest "muscle car ride by true definition" was in a 69 4 speed 396-375 L-78 Nova SS. Talk about never ending rubber

After that had my dad talked into getting a 70 383 Roadrunner but ended up with my own 70 Duster 340 (pony car) instead. That 340 womped a lot of muscle cars in the day.

Other memorable rides were in a Sebring Yellow 69 427- 4 speed COPO Chevelle (with Headers and L-88 swaped cam) and another 69 4 speed Nova with a swaped in 427 (L-72) from a 67 vette.

After discovering BBB's thats where my heart is now.

My neighbor across the street when I was growing up had a 66 442 (auto) and a 70 442 gold W-30 (4 spd)....guess which one was faster!
I had a ride in both and of course the 70 was much faster. He floored it in 2nd gear going DOWN a steep hill with a gulley and a rise at the bottom....I was hanging on and not belted of course......hit the bottom of the hill and thought I was on a roller coaster.
Almost bought the 66 442 years later but my 67 Riv GS was faster so I passed on the 442.......it was sweet though....silver, red buckets.

I was 14 and a buddy and I where hitch hiking which was not uncommon in 1970.We got picked up by a couple of high school kids in his brand new bright Yellow Roadrunner. Was a wild ride but they wanted gas money from us and when we refused they dropped us off at the beach, about 20 miles out of the way.Maybe that's why I have a bad taste in my mouth about Mopars:puzzled:.

My neighbor Harry's 69 Road Runner, 383, green w/ the flat black hood. The car was extra cool because of the front bench with a 4spd. Great combo! I was 12 and sort of looked to Harry because he was such a great guy. He was an extraordinary welder and built me a raked fork chopper bicycle. Those were the days in Detroit. The lady across the street had a convertible 69 Firebird. About that time the twins around the corner traded their GTX's for a Daytona Dodge and a Plymouth Superbird. One street over the Mom had a 68 California Special and the pain in the ass son had a GT500KR. Further down the street was a 61 Impala SS 409 and his brother had a Stinger Corvair. The mean kid had a 69 Z28. But Harry and his bird were my favorite. Although my Dad's 67 421 Grand Prix was a good ride until I started driving it.

my first car was a 1970 340 Duster, auto, console, B5 blue... that thing kicked more ass than I care to relate...

first musclecar ride was in a brand new '62 421 Catalina, I was 8 or 9, it belonged to my next door neighbor at the time, nightwatch dark blue, black bench, 8 lugs... I remember that day like yesterday, he bought it new from Colonial Pontiac in Miami.

Rustyoldbuick: You need to get Charlie to put an engine in that thing and get that GSX out of his garage. I have tried to get him to sell it to me but no luck.

My first ride in a musclecar was when I was 2 years old in 1969. My late father was down at Swanberg and Scheefe Buick in Minneapolis looking for the next in a string of Buicks. I believe they were trading a 65 Lesabre on a 69. My older brother had them convinced that a GS400 coupe was the way to go. They drove the GS Fireglow 400 Coupe home for my mom to see it and she thought it would be way too small for the family to fit in it.

Same day pops gave us all a ride in the car he liked - a light green 69 Wildcat 2 door hardtop. Big motor, big doors, big seats, big trunk, dual exhaust and chrome wheels. Mom liked the color, size and the fact it was not a convertible.

Still in the garage with 54000 miles on it.

The first muscle car I owned was 1965 Impala SS, 425 horse 327, 4:10 possi, low 12 sec. car. Wished I had it back as all the others. 2-65 Impala SS's, one 327 4 spd. the other a 396 auto, a 66 Impala SS, a 67 Impala SS. My 65 Skylark 300 V8 auto that just recently sold for $500. Big mistake on my part. Those were the days!:3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :beer :beer :beer

My 66 Fairlane GT. My dad was a "Ford guy" so if I wanted him to help me get my 1st car, it had to be a Ford. I think my car if it was still around, would be rare today because it was a 4 speed convertible. Picking up that car at the dealer was one of the best days of my life!!!

The post was for "Muscle Car" rides. I had been in plenty of hot cars before my first Muccle Car. I see the Muscle Car time as claimed by the general press, beginning with the 64 GTO.
I got my drivers license in March 1965. My uncle was a salesman at Williams Buick dealership in Charlottesville VA. I just happened to be at his house one day when he brought a new 65 GS 4spd home for the night. It was Maroon with black interior, buckets and no console. We took it out for a "ride". I can still remember the tire smoke. And how it took off when you didn't just burn the tires off, which was really hard to do, lots of power/torque. It had the spinner hubcaps instead of the chrome wheels. It made a big, lasting impression on me. And NO, he didn't let me drive it.

the first muscle car i rode in that i can remember was with my dad he had a 71 charger with what i believe was called the daytona pkg? i don't know for sure. but i do remember him street racing at any intersection that someone pulled up to him and revved their engine.
    that was all dad needed.
the turned green and we were off.
me and my older brother in the back seat (without seatbelts) cheering on dad and mom in the passenger seat telling to slow down with the goddamn kids in the car.
unfortunately he passed on in 81 while i was still very young but i still have memories of the screeching tires smell of burnt rubber and the adrenaline rush you can only find in an american muscle car

My first ride in a true muscle car was when I was about 15. It was a 1967 GTX and if I remember correctly it had a 426. We had been at a party and the guy that owned the car offered to drive a couple of girls home and asked me if I wanted to go along. The girls lived in another town about 20 miles away and when we hit a long stretch of road he put it to the floor. Before I knew it we were going over 120 mph with five people in the car. Very stupid but to make it even worse he had been drinking. I was pretty sure I would be dead in a few seconds but somehow he kept it on the road and everyone made it home safely.
