My first car was a '71 Skylark with a 350-2. Car ran GREAT, but needed body work. My second car was a '70 Skylark 350-4 which sold me on Buicks after I would run around circles around most cars on the road in 1987. :Brow:

I can thank the good Lord for giving me His grace to have the oppurtunity to own my favorite- '70 Stage1 convertible.

I was 17 when I got my first car (1971 GS455), after borrowing my sisters chevy vega many times:moonu: I was working as an electricians helper when the foreman said he was selling a buick that needed a few things but he only wanted $300:puzzled: So after work my buddy Charlie and I went to take a look at the car. There it sat in a cement garage without a door and leaves all over it. The front bumper was missing and the pass fender had a nice dent. The hood had these really cool hood scoops in it. Then I looked down at the fender and noticed it said GS 455. Dark green with tan interior and a black vinyl top, rear defrost, a/c and factory eight track. The battery was dead, but we knew we found something good. We ripped the battery out of Charlies car 1965 olds starfire 425 rocket and put it in the GS. Well do all you buick guys remember when you first heard the roar of our beloved 455 engines?   It was the greatest feeling in the world as I sat in the drivers seat and felt the power at my foot for the first time:jd: Needless to say that is when my buick blood started flowing 23 yrs ago:TU: And still going strong with two 1972 GS"s:beer

  3. The first car I paid cold hard cash for was a 73 Nova SS, 350 3spd 2bb. I put headers and glass packs on it and had a blast with it for about 7 years or so. Bought it in 79 or 80. It was cheap, reliable transportation. I didn't have to put a penny into repairs for all those years.

My favorite? No question, my current 68 GS350.

Almost didn't get it- mom was saying no...

My first car was the '71 GSX I still have. Bought it off my father in '77 for $2,000 with 42,000 on the clock. My mother wanted him to sell it 'cuz she thought I'd kill myself in it. He tried. Highest offer? $1,300 bucks. In the end I convinced her I could kill myself just as easily in the '72 Olds Cutlass with a Rocket 350(my second car, btw), so I might as well drive the one I preferred.

    '65 Wildcat 2drht
    '66 Skylark 340-4v bucket seats/console
    '67 Convertible Skylark 340-4v column shift ST300
'68 Convertible Electra 225 Midnight Blue
'70 Wildcat 2dr triple black daily driver

I'm going to pick up a '63 Wildcat 2dr this month, 78k original miles.

My 1963 Buick Skylark 4 speed 215 c.i. 200 hp posi rearend 2 door love machine. Me and my girl friend (wife now of 37yrs) did everything in that little ol' hotrod. Used to race it @ Fontana Raceway on a regular basis and always trophy'd with it there. K- stock was my class then. Raced it on the street more often than not and loved finding a Ford 260-289, Chevy 265-283 (327's too, even if I'd loose @ the end of the 1/4 mile) (loved the hole shot though), Dodge 318-382 to race against. Guess what I liked most about my 1st Buick was that I'd pull up against some hot looking GM; Ford or whatever and say Race? and they'd say "A Buick? and then I'd blow there doors off more often than not. Loved racing, loved Buicks and still do, indeed I did/do, but alas, then come a family and I became a spectator (BOO).:ball:

My 1st car was "Bessie" a '68 Wildcat 4dr. sedan that my parents bought new in late summer of '68 and gave to me when I turned 16 way back in 1976. Teal blue metallic-loaded. Gas crunch of the late '70's hit and I traded it in on a '78 Honda Civic- STUPID STUPID STUPID!!!! I still have dreams about that car- now I have another '68 Wildcat- this one is a custom 4dr. hardtop-charcoal grey with 22,000 original miles! Nice car, but I still miss Bessie-the one that started my love affair with Buicks! David:cool:

I still have my first car, my '70 Skylark. It's been a part of me for 15 years. My dad bought it in '87 for $200. He put the front and rear spoiler on it, the GS grill and painted it blue with the GSX stripes. I turned 16 in '88 and he sold it to me. I have had roughly 30 cars since but this one will NEVER be for sale.

My first car was a very uncool '76 LeSabre 350 2door, but at least it was a Buick. Got it in '82 while in high school. Since I didn't kill myself in it, my Dad said he would swap the old LeSabre for a '79 Z28 he'd picked up. Did the swap my senior year '84 and still have the Z28. I've had at least 10 different '70-72 Skylarks over the years, but can't decide on a favorite. My favorite was either my '70 GS 350 or '84 T-Type. Only had the GS a few months before we T-boned a drunk kid in a MR2 that decided to pull out in front of us.:ball: I hauled that totalled GS around with me for 13 years before parting it out. Will be putting the GS parts on my '70 Skylark Convertible soon. I had the choice of either the '70 Skylark Convt. w/ the wrecked GS or the '84 T-Type in my divorce from my ex-husband.:blast: It was a hard decision, but decided on the Convt. and the GS.:Dou:

    My current cars:
    1970 Skylark Convertible
    1979 Z28
    1989 T-Bird SC (daily driver-yes, a Ford V6 Super Charged)
    2000 WS6 TA

The Skylark is the only one of my cars that has never let me down. It's always started and run while the others have crapped out.

Would love to have another real GS someday. Hope my GS clone will satisfy me for a while. Also, someday I'd love to have a GN to add to my collection (yes, another V6  , but turboed!!!)!

Mine was a Bamboo Cream '70 GS455 . I really wanted a big block musclecar, and it had to be matching #s. I had really liked '70 Chevelles when I was little (I bought all of the diecasts I could) but I got tired of them. When we moved to this neighborhood I fell in love with the GSs due to someone owning a Stratomist Blue '71 GS350. I researched all I could and found that the '70 GS455s were the most powerful musclecar of all time, right up there with the hemis.
That sealed the deal, and I looked for 2 1/2 years before I found my first car, the 70 GS455. I called it the Desert Storm car, it was primer, bondo (red) and bamboo cream colored. That was all when I was 15... I haven't looked back since, and now I own 2 GSs and I'm still working on it! I don't know if I could ever own anything but a buick now, although I'm still a big fan of any Abody BOP. Best looking cars ever made....ever.:TU:

My first car was a 1964 Dodge Dart (225 slant six). I believe it is still running around the county my parents are in today. What made this one special for me was fixing it up with my father. It was the only car we worked on together, started from something very rough and ended up with a very pretty car (light blue metallic). Looked stock except for being lowered (slight forward rake). I was running a glasspack. Still didn't sound like an eight (which I wanted rather badly at the time), but cackled wonderfully on deceleration. It was a good first car. Many good memories.
