I have no idea what caused stains on the muffler. I have seen transmission fluid do a similar thing but it's too far to the rear of the car in the photos for that.

I think the pricing the other guys mentioned is about right. It's hard to account for the import costs and general rarity of the car in Switzerland but I would stay away from the car at that asking price if it had any body rust issues. Also, for what its worth all big block chevy heads look about the same size from the outside as long as the the 427 you are referring to is a big block.

Coincidentally, a friend of mine who lives in Canton of Solothurn bought a '70 Chevelle in the US and imported it to CH recently. After getting it to Switzerland he ended up replacing the motor with a GM crate 454. The motor that came with the car turned out to have some issues and the crate motor route was the easiest way to go. He also had the speedometer face changed so that it read out in kilometers per hour instead of miles per hour which was helpful in avoiding tickets. I got to drive the car the last time I was in Switzerland. Quite an experience!

Wow, that Chevelle looks great...it`s got a "U" at the last place of the plate, meaning it`s a dealers/garage licence plate. Nice one. Maybe you ask your friend if it would be ok to get in touch with him and asking a few swiss-import-specific questions. I`d pm you my contact and Maybe you could pass it on?

This Chevelle idea was with me for 2 decades right now, I made a road trip through the southern states with a friend in our own 1978 Caprice Classic two door (with that fancy backwindow...a really nice car) in 2000, starting in Houston. We went through Missisipi, Louisiana, Georgia, Tennessee and so on, went to Mardi Gras, NASCAR, went to the grudge races in Memphis at the dragstrip I`ve heard that now is a housing area, saw the Boss ...what a trip. We ran into that Car show by accident and the picture i snapped from that cranberry red 70 SS 454 stayed with me all those years...so, I`m happy to get some of your opinions that are more clear, go more by facts and less by emotions.
