434 You won't find any SBB's that can compare to the DX/Batten conbination. There is not the aftermarket for the SBB that is available for the SBO. About the most you'll see from a max effort SBB is 450-500HP. The power to $ factor makes it senseless to build the SBB for an all out race application. Therefore, lack of aftermarket. I think if I were to build a SB it would be a DX.
I`m surprised at that. You Buick guys seam to make alot of power without spending alot of money. How fast are some of you guys running in all out race vehicles. (door cars)
I believe Sonny Seal is in the low 10's with his small block 69 GS California. Don't know any details about his combo, though.
TWEETY Sonny is in the low 11's,still lookin for that elusive 10 second time slip.Probably one of the fastest 350's in a 3400 lb car around. gary
Fastest Buick? I think Rod Hendrickson has the fastest BBB with a 8.17 at 170 weighing in at 2980 lbs. It a door slammer an he's known to prowel around on the dark streets from time to time. Bad Ride!!!:Brow:
This car hurt a lot of feelings on the street and track here locally. It's one of my favorites.:bglasses: Ronnie
Rod's Skyhawk got low qualifier again this year at the nats with an 8.07 @ 172mph,,,, beating his run last year of 8.14 @ 171.2 mph. Last I heard Dave Mongeon was running low 8's also. Hopefully he can make it to the BPG event in August. Should make for some good racing. Anyone else make better times in their car since this was last posted?? It is funny how you will spend crazy amounts of money to spend less time in your car on the track.
Hey Paul, Thus far my normally aspirated Big Block Buick with my Andy Miller designed rotating assembly (1674 gram bob weight) has gone 8.92 @ 152.5 mph. The car weighs in at 2850 lbs. The converter was flashing to 5800 so I sent it out and had it tightened up to 5000. Last week in the heat (97 to 99 of Bowling Green, KY and the slippery Beach Bend track I went 8.97 at 151.50. I will be headed out to Norwalk tomorrow to do some racing and the weather is looking good so i am expecting some low 8.80s to 8.70s. I will add more information tomorrow. I was looking at your thread on ROP regarding your new engine. That looks like quite a nice piece. How fast have you gone with your present combo? Also could you give some information about your engine and possibly post a pic or two. I think you Olds guys are a bit ahead of us when it comes to engine design. I know I am going to take some heat for that comment but these Olds guys are building relatively small engines (416 to 434 CID) with custom cranks made that are 42 to 45 lbs (compared to our 77 to 90 lbs) along with ultra light rotating assemblies. These guys are making just as much HP with there small engines as we are making with 500 plus cubic inches. I cant wait for Olds weekend at Norwalk!!! You guys know how to have a good time. OH Paul.... do me a favor and leave the Hammer over on the ROP site. That will not fly here  . Take Care
Re: 10.18@131.20 Question..... Since I have not experienced that kind of speed, tell me...... Looking at the video, is that a whole lot of pedaling, or is that a "get it outta the hole, mat it, and keep it straight as it will go" ? Curious minds want to know. Well, at least mine does. uzzled:
