I'm pretty sure we've got a frequent member in Everett. Who the heck is that....?

Well, the guy agreed to $25 shipping but says I will owe him if it exceeds $25.
He says he wasn't trying to screw me. :Dou: Yeah, right. :moonu:

If he was an ethical seller, he would just go find out the actual it would cost to ship, and give you a REAL figure, instead of making up something outrageous. You can live with $25, but that's got to be high too.

Now I'm wondering if I'll even get my item.......
    Yes, it's $16 shipping and $9 "man-handling".

So the guy now says the shipping/handling is $29.95. (Interesting number that he came up with) I gave him $25 but he wants me to cough up another $4.95. Merry Christmas

I actual shipping is still $16.60, what a crock. How do some people sleep?

Hey maybe the screwer sleeps better than the screwee......

This guy is pretty creative. He gave me a UPS tracking number 2 days ago but it's still not in the system.
He wants the extra $4.95. I'm not sending it.....especially since the tracking number isn't valid.

Don't discount the tracking number as invalid for UPS. I already sent items through them and the tracking number never showed up in the system. So I made some calls to their 800 number and the next thing you know the number was in the system. Who knows, thats why I dont ship UPS anymore. $9.00 for handling--ripppppoffffffff!!!

I won a cheap torque wrench on ebay. I wanted one to use on lugs and stuff not to use my calibrated one. I won $5 yea! On another one of the same persons wrenches it said $8 bucks shipping. Handling on mine was $28 dollars. She tells me someone has to pay the ebay fee and cost of the wrench. I thought it was a auction?? I ask. She asked "what does supposed to mean?"
    Oh well Merry Christmas.

    It's a sales technique!

I have a 14 year old who kept finding "amazing deals" on Ebay like the $.01 rifle scope with no reserve! I have taught him to notice the $19.99 shipping and handling fee that goes with it. Total cost for a cheap $5.00 item?? $20!! As they said in old Rome.... "caveat emptor" (let the buyer beware)

I wish I had your troubles at least you ship in the continental USA try shipping to Canada  the price you pays is almost doubled at times through no fault of the seller it is UPS for us here ... In my E Bay add I always encourage the buyer to ask for shipping cost and when i buy I ask BEFORE i spend my hard earned money ... usually i try to have things shipped to my Aunts Place in Blaine Wa. then go visit her to pick them up :Brow: .. Too bad she is moving back to canada I will need another safe haven for my stuff hehehe

That may be something that the foine US board members could do for some of us here in Canada ???? a thought :Do No:

How about a jerk that sells you something and ignores the shipping instructions, with a specific address in the envelope the money came in, as a return address on that envelope and included in at least one email. Then the dork waits TWO WEEKS after he has my money and ships the part to THE WRONG ADDRESS!! Shipment was to my old address in Phoenix and delivery was confirmed. The Seller now refuses to aknowledge any kind of wrongdoing or responsibility for his screwup and since he is/was fairly new to eBay, doesn't give a rat's &** about negative feedback. Of course, the wholly unhelpful folks at eBay didn't care one way or the other. They basically said not their problem.

Just another eBay idiot, making a bad name for eBay. Haven't bought a thing at an online auction since. :spank: :af: :moonu: :blast: :Dou:

    Buyer Beware

Bruce, it looks like it was clear in the ad that shipping and handling total was $54.00 to Maryland even with the typos. The seller took the time to setup a shipping calculator which shows the shipping and handling for the item. It is hard to tell from the ad how much it weighs but there looks like 2 cases if they are metal they could be heavy. That still does seem very expensive and has to be way more than it actually costs. You have to read the ads carefully since there are many items with .01 starting prices and $50 or more for shipping in an attempt to avoid the eBay final value fee. eBay should crack down on this but I am sure they don't have time to check every ad for correctness but the buyer sure should!

Either way it is a hose job since 16 lbs. (that he told me it weighs) calculated to Everett, WA is $16.60. The shipping calculator is a joke. It figures UPS ground shipping then the shipper puts in the hose factor. EBAY needs to sort this crap out.....like a separate handling fee clearly stated so buyers know.
I wanted the item so I bought it and worked it out after the sale.
Told the guy he could keep it if he wanted $54 ship/handling.

    Read and Understand

I guess you did not read your eBay agreement either! Once you win an auction you are legally bound to pay for the item as listed. That must be why you have bad feedbacks and others do not! So don't be surprised when you get bad feedback from him. If the shipping and handling was less you probably would not have won the auction since others that did read would have bid more.

There are many people that use the high shipping + handling costs as a reserve or minimum bid to avoid eBay fees. I am not saying it is right but it is how some people use the system to their advantage.

Bad feedback? One from a guy that sold me a used timing chain as new and another from someone who said my check didn't arrive and I had to pay $30 stop payment.

"The seller took the time to setup a shipping calculator which shows the shipping and handling for the item................ " oh yeah, real nice guy...

I wish the guy wasn't so far away....I'd like to give him some personal "feedback" on the handling charges. :spank:

You know, I often thought about that, and it seem slike a loophole that ebay is unwilling to close. If they REALLY wanted to, they could track users by IP Address and deny them re-registering under a different user name, at least from that PC. It would cut out 70% of all the idiots who do that on a regular basis. But Evil Bay doesn't want to spend the money and time to do it. They'd rather collect the fees on your misfortune. :blast:

"they could track users by IP Address and deny them re-registering under a different user name"

That would not work since many people like Bruce eBay only from work (good use of our federal tax money huh! but I guess I can't talk since I am on their nickel now myself of course all my financial transactions and eBay posts occur from home after business hours) and are behind proxy servers or firewalls that display that IP address and not the users real machine IP address. I myself use many different IPs depending on where I am at the time. eBay is just too large for any effective policing.

Hey Mike at least I'm not milking the gov't (and taxpayers) for big $$$ as a contractor like you guys. :Brow:

Yeah - It was President Reagan who called contractors "hogs wallowing at the trough."

By the way - I think EBAY should strike a deal with UPS, etc. to contract all the shipping. That would get everybody a group rate and make it all more reasonable. :TU:
