yep that's the one! Now that I got that figured out, would it be a good idea to just rebuild the hole rear end while I'm gonna have it on the bench? If so where do I get a rebuild kit for the bolt in axles. Also in the details it says I need to use curtain bearings but I can't find them on jegs.

Maybe Monzaz knows what a curtain bearing is. I have no idea. Most of the 8.5's use the A9 axle bearing with the 712146 seal. I'm sure Jim can supply you with whatever you need to rebuild the entire rear. Give Jim a call.

Jim (Monzaz) built me a 10 bolt with the same True Trac type differential you are looking at with disc brakes. He knows what it takes and can tell you what you need and possibly get it for you at a better price. Give him a shot.

I'm just getting around to starting to mount mine. Holidays have been real tough on getting any garage time in but I'm ready!

I should probably ask this now b4 I buy something but has anyone have any experience with the truetrac? Does it do good burnouts? how does it take the corners? High speed and low speed corners. Has any one broken one yet?......I could only think of how THAT noise would sound.
Hopfully I'll get some pics up of my ride this weekend......it hasn't gotten above 30 degrees in....well I think a month now....ugh it feels like January.

I've had the Torsen (similar design) in another car but it barely made 200HP at full boost! It was a Mazdaspeed Miata and it would leave 2 black marks and would drift sideways in a powered drift. The only thing it didn't do was chatter/pop in a tight corner like my current 12 bolt.

I like the idea of the TrueTrac not needing clutches and using the worm gears for a virtually maintenance free existence. I doubt I'll have mine going by the end of the year since the carb is out for service but I have high hopes for the TrueTrac.

If you don't move on this immediately, I'm hoping to start my swap tomorrow though it will be slow going with the holidays. I plan to document it with pictures. You'll be able to see how it goes for me. I'll be taking the cover off the rear and filling it with fluid. I haven't actually seen the TrueTrac diff myself yet.

The true-trac is about the best all around posi unit...only thing better is the wavetrac, but that's stupidly priced and dont think they make one for a 10bolt..only 12bolt

i have one in my car and love it
