Thanks Jason for the Kind Words! I appreciate the good word about my old Buick. It is a 67 GS clone from a Skylark that was a very nice car and a one owner with all docaments and was an untouch orginal with 98,000 miles. I had wanted a post car when I started this project in 2001 but couild not find one after several months looking. Of course I found several after starting on the hardtop. We race NSCA and PRO in Nostalgia Super Stock. We are the only Buick out running the class except a Ky car of Jason Wolford who runs a couple or three times a year. The car has run a best of 10.31 @ 128.21. It is a iron head and hydraulic cam 455. I use a 400 trans and a 4.10 gear with 10.5W x 31 M/T tires. It is a lot of fun to run aganist all those Mopars with their Indy Cylinder Head big inch wedges and a few Hemis. The "Mad Torquer" has been in a couple of mag. and we were lucky enough to win the 10.99 and quicker bracket at the GS Nationals the last two years. We finished 2nd at the NSCA World Finals in Columbus a couple of weeks ago. Will try to put some pics on when I get a chance. Thanks Jim N. NSCA B/NSS 671 1967 GS
WOW! Thats a 1957 Chevy Fuelie pushing the old black rail lookin thing a few posts up. Talk about a big $$ tow vehicle. Good Gosh!
Yeah Alan, I noticed that too. I figured that drag car probably didn't last to many drags, or he solved the problem with some anti-wheelie bars. I think I would have wet my pants.
jungle pam did you say jungle pam pics.............okie dokie there ye be http://www.junglepam.com/photos.html
Looking at those Top Fuel and Fuel Altered wheelie photos makes you realize where the new motocross guys got the idea to turn their front wheels when getting air. Thnx very much for the photos guys!!!!!
Jim...getting back to what you had mentioned about the blue 71 GS you spotted. I did a little research and found this listing on an NHRA website: "3187 G/SA Billy Baker, Lewis Center OH, '71 Gran Sport" Could this be Dick Baker's blue flamed race car? Does anyone know if Dick had a son named Billy? It would be interesting to find out about this car. If it is in fact the same car, its now painted blue with yellow/orange flames. Would be interesting to find out the actual history of this car. Jason
I Think So! I think this is the car I saw in Columbus, I would have sworn it had Dick Baker on it some where, maybe I just saw the Baker name and associated it with Dick. I met him several years ago and used to see him run when he came to the Sports Nationals in Bowling Green, Ky. Wish I had made contact with someone with the car. Like I said I went by it a couple of times but no one was around. Will keep my eye open in the future. Jim N.
Maybe Not? After talking with my wife, we don't think the car we saw had the yellow flames but the blue color is about right. Not sure but I thought the car had Dick Baker Racing on it. Jim N.
