    Is this your 'Stage2' car?

What is the three digits after the 'SS'?

Actually, this is the engine that is on ebay with the "SS" stampings in question. If this thing isnt a correct stg1 I feel we should warn the people on here...???

Nope, not from my stg2 car

We need the 3-digit code after the 'SS' to determine if it's legit...

    The 'X'??? :Do No:

I'll try to find out about the 3 digits.

Try to get a clear picture of both the serial number and the motor code/production number.

I've seen misstampings before, but I've never seen/heard of a plant code 'X' (Kansas City, KS plant) producing stage1 engines...

Also, what is the date code on the block/intake manifold?

Marco, I'm doing this by phone so I can't personally get the information. But the seller (selling for a friend) seems to be very helpfull. He is going home on his lunch hour to get me those numbers. He thinks the three numbers are 491 but not certain.
    auction ends at 4:00 today...

I don't want to be skeptical here Guy, but I will be.

According to Buick's official production records (called Daily Car Reports), all 1970 stage1 cars were built in Flint. Now, things happen from time to time, and it is possible that the engine is a true stage1 assembled in KS, but there needs to be some sort of additional proof (beyond a reasonable doubt). Sloan may have records for that VIN, or Wayne Roberts may have them. The entire VIN would be 446370X169194 or 446670X169194.

The casting dates (along with this three digit code) may offer some additional clues if it's authentic. I've learned 'never say never' when it comes to these cars, but I would need some additional proof before I would consider this a factory 'one-of'. JMHO (Just my honest opinion).

I know where your comin from. If this guy calls me back with more info, I'll let you know. Just hope nobody spends big bucks on this thing and not be legit.
By the way, still laughing about your reply to Chris (cjp69) I spit my coffee out on that one!!!!

I hate to take up your time, but can I pm you about a question on my Stg2 car???
    Thanks, Guy

    Marco...

You have my VIN......maybe some comparison of my and the VIN of the subject block with the (3) digit sequential numbers?

    Hope this will help.

    Thanks Larry and Glen!

Here's the thing - Kansas workers probably had a different production code sequence than Flint workers. Since this is really the first KS block I've seen, I can't compare it with the cars I know.

I wonder what the date codes on the block/heads/intake would yield?

Anyone know how many cars came from KS in 1970? I don't have my reports with me...

Sorry guys...went back and re-read. I missed the part about the Kansas plant.......figured the X was a mis-read...

Unless I needed a spare block and could buy it for spare block money $100-$200 tops...Id pass...

Not saying somebodys being dishonest...just prefer to know what i'm buying.
