Undoubtably UPS likes profits. But also bear in mind they cannot deliver, by Law, to certain places like APO boxes. There are other rules which apply that I don't know about, I'm sure, that have cropped up since I turned in my brown pants

Please, stop making me speak up for UPS!

I was just at a UPS store inquiring about getting a box for something I sold on ebay.
    What I need is something about and 15" x 15" x 20"
    They had a 15" x 15" x 48" that I could cut down to size.
    Ok, how much? I asked.
$11.25   For a cardboard box?
    I was thinking around $5.00.

Forget it! I'll dig through some dumpsters behind the mall first!

UPS made me buy their boxes saying the ones they shipped to me in were not allowed since they had handle holes!! Wouldn't allow me to tape the holes shut. The people there seemed to get some kind of perverse enjoyment out of telling people what they can or cannot do. Cost me alot more than I expected.
Then the last time I sent anything by UPS (and I mean the last) they charged me more than 2X what they charged the co. I got the slicks froms to send the same pair of slicks since I put them in one box (oversize). The co. sent them separately and not in a box. The one UPS store said tires can no longer be shipped loose. Then I went to another UPS and they took them no problem. :blast:

Just this past July I ordered tires online and UPS delivered them here at work.
    4 Individual tires, Loose.

Maybe because mine were used.....who knows. The box was oversize but not that heavy. Charged me for a higher weight than it actually was due to OS. It seems either it weighs XX or it doesn't. Charge an OS fee but don't say it weighs more than it does.
    I'm looking for a DHL......

UPS's prices do suck...thats why i use USPS when im sending larger items. on 2 seperate occasions i shipped rather large packages through them for 20 bux. one was a set of door panels, the other a large spoiler. i forgot how much UPS wanted but it was gonna be like 40 + 35 for oversize.

Before you guys break your arm waving the DHL flag. You should know that DHL is owned by the German post office. This is no b.s., the facts are there. the German post office was initially not allowed to conduct buisness in this country. they have since transferred the minimum percentage of stock ownership as "American owned", to circumvent the laws. So go ahead and stick your heads in the sand, but dont ever preach "support american companies", or "buy american" . You can send your deposit on your new volkswagon via DHL , and then wonder why so many american companies go out of buisness, or move abroad. Just like the aircraft manufacturer airbus , european countries subsidize these buisnesses, until there is no compitition left. :Dou:

I ship by whoever is closest.

I know that they all have an equal chance of breaking my stuff. It's just that I know exactly how UPS does it.

When I ship a package, that box is ready to go to war, underwater :TU:

For any size box you want, just go to your local supermarket. Deli dept. is always a good one, you can trust me on that one. Some of the boxes used are quite heavy, too, like roast beef boxes. Russer packs all their meats in nice heavy cardboard as well, i.e. Wonderbar Bologna. Whenever they get their delivery for next week sales is usually the best time. We usually get a whole pallet worth of product on Saturdays, boxes everywhere by the time I get done unpacking all of it.
