I do have a grip on life what a jerk for saying that. Would you pay that much for a Car? I have been around Buick's all my life. When i was born i road home from the Hospital in a 70 GS Diplomat Blue Stage1 How may Buick Fans can say that. I would do it your right i would take the Money. Do think it is right to put these cars out of reach for a Average guy. Would you drive a Car like these when Restoried. I do not think alot of average people could lets face it you are Driving your House down the Street. Like i said a Big player's Car do they even give loan on Car that need to be Restoried?. Looks like these Car are out reach for Average guy's. I think alot people are not GSX fans they are Big Money Collectors.

Considering the delayed and slower rise in GSX and Stage 1 prices, I think it's fair to say that the majority of these cars are still in the hands of the "average" guys who were smart enough to buy them, or lucky enough to fall into one a long time ago. The "big players" are chasing the few for sale, or have bought the relatively few that have been correctly restored or well-maintained.
To us "Average Joes", it isn't costing us anything to keep them, and we may not be in a squeeze tempting enough to sell, even if prices double or triple. The price has risen to the point where I am a little less willing to drive it as often as I used to for fear of theft or damage, that's all.

Yes his name is Mike, one of the more honest and trustworthy guys I have ever dealt with in the Buick world. And he is also the previous owner of my Skylark. Without him I would never of got my hands on my car. Thanks again Mike, and good luck with the bidding.

We all can't afford to live in million dollar mansions either. Why bash the people that do? We all can't own GSX's either. So why bash people that can afford them? I thought that Canada was the socialist state...not the US!

"enhance the value of his own stable"

I think he already has!

Would he?...sure!! At the Batavia BCA nats, Jim let John Csordas "test beat" his beautiful frame off restored 70 Apollo white Stage 1 4 speed. I was in the back seat. We thrashed that car! I think there are still claw marks on the back of the seat from me. By the time we got back to the show field, the car smelled of clutch and brakes! All three of us had a grin a mile wide! Thats what these cars were made for.

In my opinion, I find it great that finely Buick's are getting appreciated. :TU:

I could never afford it, however, if somebody can, good on them.

I just hope that whoever get's it appreciate what he got & take good care of it.

PS. I would love to see a board member getting it, & to follow the resto here :Brow:

How about...hold off on restoring them...drive and enjoy them. Since the car itself is the value, maybe a good strategy would be to repair and detail a car, enjoy it...race, drive, have fun. Then, when you are ready to retire the car you can spend the $$$ for a restoration and the restoration would be fresh AND you could have years of fun with the car before it becomes a museum piece.

I've done just that with my GSX. We race it, break it, fix it, cruise in it and even drive it a couple thousand miles a year. With a little TLC, I turned it into a "10 footer" that is so much fun to drive, I can't find the words to describe it. Just get a good agreed value insurance policy and off you go!

Someday I plan on totally restoring it, but that day seems further and further away each summer because these cars are real head turners and super fun to drive. I just can't imagine owning a car you are afraid to drive.

Just my opinion, I may be totally wrong, but we're sure having fun! Paul

I concur too. It solves the problem of not being able to drive a car fresh out of resto without hurting the value more and more over time.

Our creed exactly too,Paul.Sandy's X is a QQ non stage car,but we drive it ,cruise with it,beat on it and race it,fix it if something needs it,brush touch the stone nicks and have fun.Runs 13.0's thru exhaust and iron manifolds with a 118 cam.Would'nt have it any other way, maybe someday we'll do another show quality job, which it was when I did it in '91,but then it'll sit because of its value.
Hell, thats why I'm selling the Sinister Black 72 stage 2 car,its too perfect and I worry when I drive it instead of having a ball.

    Jeff,

I'll try to get some pictures on. It's probably a little different than your Dad's. It is sitting on a complete 90 Vette platform. We stripped all the glass off the vette leaving the platform, drivetrain, suspension, dash and cowl. The vette platform had to be streched 20" to make up the difference in wheel base. The Nomad is shelled out (no floors, or lower cowl) and sitting over the vette platform. If your Dad is interested, the 2nd one should be a lot easier.

It is just my humble opinion, but I believe the thousands of people who belly up to the dealership counter year after year and plunk down a $118,000 for a BMW 760 Li, $98,000 for a Porsche 911, $292,000 for a Ferarri Maranello F1, or $130,000 for a Mercedes CL 600, are the people who are doing the good drugs these days. In three years, these cars will be less than half the value they are today. While the value of these cars are heading south like a snowball headed for Hell, Quality muscle cars like a Stage 1 GSX 4-Speed, which I dont know if you've heard, but they have been out of production for 35 years, are continualy heading north. A legendary car like this GSX will with out a doubt will be through the stratosphere while the guy who bought the Mercedes will be filming "20,000 Thousand Leagues Under The Sea" in his personal submarine he blew $130,000 for. Just look at the guy who bought the first Hemi Cuda convertibe for $1,000,000 a couple of years back and everyone thought he was nuts. Today, $1,000,000 wouldn't get you passed the gills on the front fender on a '71 Hemi Cuda Convert. Do you guys read what you wright before you post it for millions to see? :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank:

A LOT of these people are in the " We may not own them LONG, BUT we'll own them 1st catagory.'
With Creative Financing, leasing , etc some of these people (if Not Most) are on plans with HUGH Balloon Payments. Cars will go back prior to the Balloon hitting them in the face.
A lot of Collector Cars are being bought that way as well, OR are being Leased through Companies like Putnam or others. Hagerty was looking at a program last year about Financing some of the Vehicles they had Insured, but in a Reverse manner.
Owner has the car, but it is bought, or has a long term Loan put on it to free up cash flow. The Collateral is the Car & Insurance Policy. Should something happen to the "Owner" Vehicle goes to the Lender, and put in a Museum, or something similar for Future "Postarity."
Depending on the car, and market, you CAN profit from some of the New Cars.
The GTO & Ford GT are 2 that recently come to mind, but AGAIN, You have to know When to get out. Cars were going above Sticker, and waiting list, positions were being sold for profit for the 1st 3-6 months.(both are being Discounted now)
As for the Muscle Cars.there are A FEW Changing hands at the Top pricing, NOT ALL, and That includes the Hemi Cars.
A Specific Road Runner has been being followed for the past 2 years, as have
a few other cars. I CAN'T verify if it HAS been sold, even at the "NO RESERVE"
Auctions, or if the "Sale" is a way Appraise or Inflate the Value.
This is one of those times where "Don't Believe Everything You See or THINK You See."
