Good Show, I like how they focused on the history of Buicks & Buick racing :3gears: I give it 4 hair dryers D.
I missed the first 10 minutes and had to leave 20 minutes after it started anyways so I didn't watch it at 8 but it's on again at 1am and I'll catch it then. Looked good from the few minutes I saw.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it as well, I was just surprised that after all the work they did, 14's was all they could squeak out.... Didn't those cars run similar to that from the factory??
If they had put all that work and money into an 86/87 instead of a hot air car it would have run 11's. not a bad show though.
sounded and looked as though they left off idle instead of building any boost. it wasn't a GREAT show, but better than no Buicks... Too bad the guys that lost were screwed by a mechanical failure. The other 2 seemed pretty lacking in knowledge, and got way more help from their "foreman".
Those team leaders were a couple of "tools". Why did they have to talk like Eminem? I love how they didnt even mention Gran Sports
The 84 & 85's were rated at 200 hp, so they were running high 14's low 15's. They did a lot of work but no mention of the fuel system was it upgraded? What chip were they running? They upgraded the injectors and you must change to a chip that matches those injectors. No mention?? What boost levels were they running?? And it did seem they were leaving at idle of course you have inexperienced drivers that are probably use to a V8 N/A car. A good show overall a lot of history about Buick racing, I was a little dissapointed though with all of the racing history being mentioned no mention of the GS. o No:
Not surprised there was no mention of the GS, after all, the show was about 2 1985 GN's, not about Buick muscle in general. The 2 "hosts" have had a ricer show on weekends too, don't recall the name.
Not anymore. *CANCELED* and the world is a better place because of it. They must be making some big money though since the place they filmed full throttle at was their own shop. They probably did all the chips+etc but didn't show it, can't have the show too full of "real car guy" stuff or they'd lose out on the channel flippers.
87 We4 My 87 We4 ran a 13.99 @ 101 stock. Now with a few mods such as they performed it runs 11.98 @ 112. Bob Swarthout
I watched the show last week on the Mustangs, and it was LAME! This one was worse. They had some interesting Buick history, but they have a LOT to learn about making a car get down the track. :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears:
I think maybe the producers had a hard time deciding what/how to do it all. They seemed to try and do too much in an hour, yet there was some repetition of dialog. They left out much tech work to fit in some history-might have ended on the 'cutting room floor'. Somebody must have had a couple '85 GNs to get them going cheap-I would have used the '86-7 cars. There was a pic of WR Stephens from way back=Stephens Buick-Mpls. Mn.
I have to agree that the show, while great that it was about Buicks, was pretty much a stinker. I hate those two brothers that hosted the show. Bunch of wanna-be's. They did take two guys who seemed to know jack diddly about cars and walk them through a parts replacement class. There seemed to be little/no tuning of the cars and both of the driver's, it seemed to me, had never been to a drag strip before. That said, they're making this show for the majority of young kids out there who are driving now and were just being born when those cars were new. Maybe it'll convert a couple of ricers to the other side.
I watched the program and it was good to watch, but those cars were very slow, especially for the parts that were put into them. I owned a 1985 GN which I bought brand new,and with nothing done to it,14.7@91 mph.
