i went to visist my father today:beer and he showed me this sticker that someone stuck on the back of his 79 Lincoln, while parked in his friends driveway, it reads:

"Do you really need this gas-guzzling machine to haul your worthless self around? Isn't the smog bad enough? Grow Up."

What the hell is up with that crap. I'll run that f@#ker over then that will be one less car driven around everyday.:blast:

Up here in the pacific northwest these peaceniks and tree-huggers are all over the place. While they pretty much HATE anything that has a internal combustion engine, they often drive around in their multicolored VW buses with black or blue smoke pouring out their exhaust pipe. This is no big deal to them but for some reason they have a problem with my or any other performance car on the road. It's PC THUGS like this that got a lot of potentially great musclecars crushed through bad legislation and lobbying of liberal politicians. Hopefully these extremists won't be able to make it to public service. OK I'm done. John

Not to insult any SUV owners, but someone should make aware to that person that most of our era vehicles get better gas mileage than half of todays brand new SUVs with smaller and computer driven engines.

    Wouldn't that classify as vandalism??

You know, I think we as classic car owners started making noise. The whole enviromental movement started with a small group of very loud people, and while I agree with some of their ideas in moderation, you can't undo everything in one day, hell the scientists are still arguing about it.

Its true that some new SUV's get worse mileage, however our old cars put out 10 times (or more) emissions per gallon used, but on the other hand most pon't get driven that often so it works out in the end.

If we stand by silently, we will be the ones to suffer. Special interest groups seem to run everything these days, whether the US or Canada...

If I ever saw someone putting a sticker on my car, I'd beat them LIKE IT WAS MY JOB!

I love this logger guy I know up in VT's bumper sticker "If you object to logging try useing plastic toliet paper."

These are the same liberals who lobbied to have light rail transit built in the Twin Cities and then camped out in the trees to prevent them from being cleared in order to build it! :blast:

    Hey Zach,
Back in 1990 I drove out to the Black Hills in S.D. in my '72 Electra.
Averaged 18 MPG. cruising I-90 at an average speed of 75 - 80 MPH with the A/C on and cruise control. (Sometimes that 2:78 ratio ain't so bad.)

    Tim,
Yes they do spew more pollutants.
I am reminded of the time I was sitting at a light in the '70 Riv with a motorcyclist behind me. I heard him say to the woman on the back of the bike, "I can't breathe and my eyes are watering!" Ahhh, the sweet bouquet of 100 octane!

there isn't much we can do to smog up the engines, but i would much rather they require cats than to just crush the damned cars.:af:

    That's a GOOD burn!

History has proven, and will continue to prove, that zealots are self-serving, opinionated, narrow-minded, hypocritical egoists.

They will claim "abortion is murder", then kill the doctor running an abortion clinic.:puzzled:

They cry and whine about cruelty to animals, yet many of them eat McDonald's cheeseburgers while wearing leather Nike sneakers.:puzzled:

Their opinion is the only possible true one, and if yours differs, then they have a right to throw paint on you, or deface your property, or slander and harrass you.:puzzled:

Like this country doesn't have enough troubles right now. Ahhh, how I miss the Reagan administration.

It's rare when someone echos my sentiments exactly Jeff. I'm almost bummed because there's not much left to add to that. :TU: It's so true it's utterly amazing. Some people have no goal in life other than just taking up a cause, whether they have all the facts or not. They simply need to feel important or meaningful. Even if it means being a totally ignorant jackass in the process.

Ever meet an environmentalist who gave up thier car/job/career for the environment? It's easy to tell someone else to stop, kind of makes you look more righteous too don't it?

It comes down to people doing what people do for thier own interests.

Personally, I want my kids to grow up and still have a few clean, uncontaminated 455's to play with... otherwise they'll have nothing to do but go camping... 'course if I thought about it like *that* I'd be an activist...

On an interesting note, I've met only two vegetarians who didn't preach, and they were the only two that didn't wear leather. All the preaching ones contratdicted themselves.

Yeah, so what's the problem? We went after Hitler when he was killing the Jews, didn't we? We went after Bin Laden after he killed our people in New York. Sometimes you have to go to war to protect the innocent in this world. It's a pretty screwed up mentality that lets children die for the sake of convenience. Maybe we should keep our political/moral views off the board?
