went to the track today, very happy. 12.38@109 mph. old time was 12.62@106 mph.did a few little changes, but the big change was with the new heads that gs Bob did for me. pulls better on the top end now. here is something interesting, the first run i left the switch pitch converter on high stall all the way. next run after cool down i turned the converter to low stall after about a 120 ft or so, went 12.43@108 mph.i know what ken bell always said about turning the converter off but I always felt and said the car seems faster in high stall all the way. i could tell when going from low gear to drive it would seem slower in low stall, maybe with a 3 speed you can get away with it. anyways am happy remember its only a 2-speed and 323 gears. its a hour ride to get there, car cruises great easy to drive, on the way home i was eating a ice cream cone and talking to Bob at the same time, lol. good job on the heads Bob.

I got my best E.T of 11.54 with the converter in hi stall all the way, but it dropped my trap speed by almost 1 MPH.

Very nice numbers!(especially with the 2 speed) Is this with the stroker Nailhead? And what did you 60 ft at?

Man that's a great 60 ft time with the crappy 2 speed gearing! That's all engine there, that thing runs strong! I wonder what you would do with a dialed in for your combo ST400 in the QM, your 60 ft time would surely improve if you could keep traction.

You're so close to 11s, .38 away very respectable, maybe a bit more of dialing in the combo and maybe you can hit 11.99?(If that's what you're into? great runner either way)

that is my goal, actual .39 away lol. had 3/4 tank of gas. so 60 lbs less gas and uncap the headers might give me a tenth. need 3 more tenths. one size bigger cam and more head work, bigger carbs, running 2x 600 cfms now ?

Every 100 lbs is supposed to be good for .1 also so remove spare tire and not sure how much you weigh, but if it was me I could stand to drop 30 lbs!(the second spare tire in my case LOL) Perhaps remove all but the drivers seat as well, all mentioned should be around .2, half way there.

If you go to a bigger cam you may want to add gear as well to get back the down low you may loose with a bigger cam. Fun stuff, GL.

I think it's really cool your driving an hour to the track , run a 12.38 and cruise home. Makes me want to get mine back on the road. 11.99 with a 2speed and 3.23 would be cool, hope it happens

    Joe - that's awesome.

I hit the track this Friday for the first time if the weather holds -

I've been using a Bruce Roe box to control the hi/low stall switchover point (at about 3 seconds), but lately been holding it manually through the shift and it seems to like it. Of course all that's working against the fact this thing is losing compression and lord knows what else after like 600-700 runs...

Got my heads back from Bob too, and Tommy tells me the new motor should be screwed together around the end of May....could be an interesting summer, really looking forward to seeing how they work with his "max effort" Q-jet manifold.

And of course by then, you'll be in the 11's! Where is your home track? Maybe I could take a road trip some weekend?

Congrats Joe! If I get my act together this year, I hope to break into the 12's with slightly more nitrous and slicks.

Last time I was at the track my car was very consistent, and running in high stall the whole run resulted in a loss of tenth and a half, and some MPH (this was without nitrous). I'm going to guess that is because the 12" V6 converter is too loose behind my 401. The transition from high stall to low stall does have to be done with RPMs in mind. Anything below 4k and it bogs slightly.
