It'll get dyno'd at the track! That said, it's a stock minded build and not going to run like yours. Going Friday to set the baseline with the new 3.42 axle...and come Saturday, I'm quite sure I will report that Tommy has beaten me again in my own car. It's getting to be a thing......
Joe - forgive me for hijacking your thread, but at least it pertains to Nailhead track results.... Had a great day Friday at LVD -Great air (DA from 600-1000 ft.), the track was beautifully prepped and the car was running great. I got in 15 runs, and all were in the 14.5's or 14.6's...My (OK, Tommy's) prior best in this car was 14.57 @ 94, I actually beat that with a 14.52 @ 93.8. I ran out of time playing with secondary rods to bring the MPH back up, but it was trending the right way at the end of the day. I also had my best ever 60 ft.. 2.08 from a prior best of 2.10. The 3.42 axle that Ken from Everyday Performance built me was hooking perfect, and I could shock the converter all day long in high stall... no wheelspin even with the short, skinny whitewalls I'm running. I know these numbers arent super impressive, but remember that this car is running an unopened 75k motor with 600-700 passes on it- the only mods are a curved distributor, Q-Jet manifold that Bob cleaned up, a M4M Q-Jet that Ken helped piece together, solid lifters and Tommy's rockers. I did put in new timing chain, valve springs and tubular pushrods too. But all that is fighting about 135 PSI compression and tons of blow by... And best of all, I beat Tommy and still drove it home....
yep - I liked the 3.23's, but going to a 8.5 axle opened up a lot of gear (and diff) options...I've got 3.73's and 3.90's on the shelf waiting to see how the new motor likes to rev, and 3.23's if I ever feel like going back...This one has an Eaton style 408 diff that Ken from Everyday set up tight and it just grabs like crazy. I'm finding with a short 25" tire and an engine that really doesn't make power above 5k, 3.42 is all the gear you need.
