Wow, I'll take any of those. What's the story? I would think they could get big bucks even the way they sit.

    I know it's a Chevy but I wouldn't mind having a '71 Monte Carlo SS454. With a 4 speed of course!

Another story of Junkyard owners who don't want to get rid of anything. I have one by my house that had 2 Porches, 7 Corvairs and lots of other things. I tried to buy a couple of T-3 headlights and he said no. A couple of weeks ago I went by and all 100+ cars were gone. I was told he had them crushed for the metal. Just sickening.

I knew a guy in the early 70's who had a 70 Biscayne 4 door sedan that was factory equipped with a 454. I had several rides in it, and recall it having plenty of get up and go.

Its previous life was as an RCMP Interceptor, as it had the certified 140 mph speedometer. If memory serves me correctly, it was originally shipped to BC, Canada. I do not remember what happened to that car. I probably tried to buy it, but I think the owner moved away.

The byscane sounds like a factory police car.... if you felt of the headliner most likely there were wires under it for the overhead lights....

    Good picks!
-Cosworth Vegas were ahead of their time and never appreciated for what they were.
-Torinos and Fords in general....I have a little 'blue' in my veins (still have a pair of 67 Fairlanes in my barn:bglasses: ) but Fords biggest problem is they never really tried to put a good street car out there. All the good parts were on their shelves, but it wasn't until they built the 428 CJ in '68 that the good ones became available to the general public. Putting a station wagon 390 in a 67 Fairlane doesn't make a great musclecar when the competition is doing so much more. I have one anyway.:pp
    -AMC- Several good choices there.
-Mopar- overrated. Great marketing, but the quality of build isn't there.
-Olds- Very good cars but off the list since they already have a strong following. Prices are up there for the top picks.
GM A-body small-block cars: Good performers, great value!:TU:

My pics for the best (and underrated)values:
    Early GS's
GM big series big-block cars::TU: Especially the Riv!
    GM mid size+ & G body : Grand Prix, Monte's, Late Cutlass, 70-87
    Ford Big series big-block cars::TU:
GM and Ford 350+ mid size cars: affordable, decent performance.
    AMC muscle
    and from the 'Lost' generation:
Ford Mustang-Capri and Mopar with 4 cyl turbo.

My pick would be the '66-67 Dodge Charger. never understood why they weren't very desirable , but thats o.k. with me as I bought my last one very cheap.

Yup, RCMP - Royal Canadian Mounted Police. I never bothered checking under the headliner. When I first saw that car, I did not believe it had a 454, until the owner popped the hood.

Years ago (1987) I owned a '70 Cyclone Spoiler. That was a scary car only because it would go out of control under hard excelleration. It had the 429 CJ with automatic and even at 40-45 mph if you floored it,it would spin the tires so bad that it would get sideways uncontrallably. I swapped it for a tamer 442. I wish I still had that Grabber Blue Spoiler now.

To SportWagon66, I had forgotten about the Corvairs! They were pretty cool. My brother-in-law had one, and after a string of speeding tickets he decided to sell it before he killed himself in it. He sold the Corvair and bought a small Datsun 4 cyl. He managed to kill himself in the Datsun in a head-on crash with a 1968 Mercury Wagon on July 20, 1972.

I have a '66 Toro. With the 425, 3.20 gears and switch pitch transmission, it's probably a bit livelier than the later, higher geared, 455-powered 68-70 Toronados. While they are wonderful (and powerful) cars, I wouldn't call them muscle cars. I think the "high performance luxury vehicle" definition fits them better. They simply have no off the line acceleration due to them being FWD with no chance for a posi. They are wonderful for laying single rubber strips on the road, though

I second the Plymouth Fury 440. A family friend had one stolen many years back. He was talking to the police after they caught the guy that stole it. He ran from them and they couldn't keep up with their cruisers (Chevy Caprice - it was before they got crown vics). They said he was just walking away from them. He eventually crashed and that's how they got him. And I'm certain the 440 was stock.

COOL TRUCKS! worked on a few, get rid of the water intercooler, and put in a good air air intercooler, and a little tuning, NASTY street trucks, pretty good at the track, but they tend to brake stuff.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the '73 and '74 455-SD Trans Am yet.
