I had (yes, had) to go to homecoming last year with one of my sister's friends. We split the cost about 70/30 but what really ticks me off is getting the clothes. I threw my wallet at my sister and my mom to go get me a shirt and a tie, I had about $60 in it. They came back with freaking change! what the crap, I could have picked out a shirt and a tie for maybe 20-25, i learned my lesson there.

65WILDKAT A PROUD FATHER OF THREE!

Ahhhh DUDE!!!! And I Know I will catch some ...........

Ahhh Dude....... I hear ya!!!!! But speaking as a father I would have to say that I admire a young man that would drop that kind of money on my Daughter......BUT!!!!!! The part of her taking off and rapping with her girlfriends would be not accepted! I would tell my Daughter to pony up and pay her own way if she had done that! If the young Lady asked you, She should have paid something towards the dance!!!! That is my understanding about dating these days! I have two Daughters that are of dating age and this is what they tell me,
Women and Cars are alot a like THEY CAN DRIVE YA CRAZY :Dou: AND THEY DRIVE YOU TOO THE POOR HOUSE! It don't matter your going for a Drive!
I Know I will catch some flack about this but it is true! There is no way to be P.C. About it!

    OK,
Here's the deal - she asks, she pays. That's the way it works. If you ask - you pay. The key is to do it on your terms.

You're young, so anything in the way of a long-term commitment shouldn't even be considered. That being said, go here:Tom Leykis Show

You need to find out what radio station he is on in your area (you don't have that listed, by the way). Listen to his shows on Thursday afternoons. He does something called Leykis 101. It sounds like this is the kind of help you need.

Understand, this is not the plan for someone who is looking for a relationship, has a thin skin, etc... Tom wasn't around with this back when I was in high school/college, so I can't give you any firsthand results. If you do get a girlfriend, she won't like what he has to say. Then again, most women aren't too keen on his program.

    Good Luck

I hear that, I went to one dance my whole lifetime. 100% Band geek in hair band hell, I couldn't get a date in high school if I tried................so I joined the swimteam so I could at least look at the hot chix in their swimsuits everyday at practice!! :Brow:

Life only got better in college, when people stopped listening to RATT and started listening to Nirvana!!

Nice?? I've been trying that road ever since I started dating...hasn't helped a bit. They only learn to take advantage of you when you're nice.

I too was a total band geek and played on the golf team in high school. I hated every minute of those 4 years. Now college, that was a different story. It was like I was able to start over again...

Now I'm back in my hometown working my tail off - no time to meet women and no time to drink myself into oblivion.....maybe those are good things!!!

Seriously, laugh this one off and take it with a grain of salt. She was in the wrong. Keep doing what you're doing and it'll work out. Maybe next time, you should write up a contract if a girl asks you to a dance :pp

It appeaars that we were all geeks in Highschool, that's an odd statistic. I was and am into the videogames, I sat just to the geek side of the social spectrum, not welcome with the geeks, not welcome with the cool kids. College was also way better for me. My advice? drive the ugliest car or truck you can find. I was driving an 86 ford f150 long box king cab in 1999 any girl that is willing to roll up to the prom in that is a keeper, at least my fiance was willing, I didn't make her though.

Band? Geeks? And I thought I didn't fit in on this board! I eat alone every other day, play in the pep band for all our football games, and talk in a high, nasal voice. Well, maybe not that last one... but I try my best. But as for driving the ugliest car I can find... not going to happen. Anyone who calls the Skylark ugly is going to wake up to find thier car has a lot more "speed holes" than it did the night before... but even the Skylark can't save me from being geeky yet- I can't drive for three months! :af:

Ok, I was just going to sit back and read this, but I feel the need to post.
Not all girls are that bad.
I paid for my prom over $400 but that included the trip to Great America the day after. I was always willing to pay my fair share 50/50 when I had the money, which was most of the time. I hated High School, I'm having my best years now
Don't let this one girl give us all a bad name. You'll find someone who excepts you for you, will not try to change you, supports you in whatever you do and is willing to share the costs when she can.
Oh yeah, and make sure when you open the door for her to get in the car first, she leans over and unlocks your door for you. :Smarty:

    Whoa there....

Back the "Geek Schoolbus" up...

Not me man... I was always the leader of the "in crowd", basketball jock (4 year starter), drove the coolest car in school, ect...

    Geek, I was not!

Learned enough about women early in life.. stay away..

Figure they are kinda like Miami..

Nice place to visit, but wouldn't want to live there.. (although I did load the moving van a couple of times before I came to my senses.) I was too young, and wanted more than a "normal" life. I wanted to work on GS's for a living, and guess, what?.. that came true! Was a tough decision at the time, but looking back, a very good one.

    Consider this..

Had I gotten married when it would have been real easy to.. these things would not exist today.

    Tri-Shield Performance

    The BPG

And.. you guessed it.. V-8 Buick.com.. :Dou:

    I couldn't imagine.. :eek2:

The right girl won't drain your pockets.. bet on that.

You don't count when it comes to any discussion of "normal" women..

Don't get the kid's hopes up.. not many like you.

Just be patient and good things will happen.....either that, or you will live a long and lonely life :TU: There are definetely cool girls out the, you just have to use some common sense and have a little give and take....don't get stepped on, but don't be a dick.....a guy at a speed shop was telling me i need to start a secret savings account that my wife doesn't know about for cars.....she already "lets" me have my toys and an account to keep them going, why would i do that? guys at work are always talking about lying and cheating and this and that.....it always ends up badly........wait for the right one, and then keep an open and honest relationship.....well, she doesn't know about my crack habit yet, but do as i say, not as i do :Smarty:

After reading, had to attempt to defend us small portion of non-gold diggers.... we're not all like that, just want to be treated like ladies, doesn't mean you have to spend alot of $$$ to do so...In the future, you should probably talk about who's going to pay for what beforehand so you're not irritated that she doesn't pull out cash to help pay for the evening....usually men can pick out the girls who are using 'em for $$$, use your good instincts and it'll save your hard earned money to put into Buicks, where it belongs :)

Well...I'm a geek by day(Network Admin) and a Buick nut the rest of the time. :Brow:

This last Saturday I had the garage open and the car was sitting there. My neighbor's brother was in town and saw the car in the garage. He hadn't seen me yet. I pulled the car out to work on it.....he still hadn't seen me yet. Then I came around the corner, I thought the guy was going to go into shock. He looked at me and said, "You're a girl????" :eek2:

I smiled and said yes. We chatted for a hour or so. Nice fella...don't know if he got over the part of me being a girl or not?? :Do No:

I wasn't trying to stereotype all girls as being only interested in money, and I'm sorry if I came off this way. I know plenty of girls who would never do something like that, including the lovely ladies who've stood up to scold me on this board. Thanks for all the advice though, everyone... nice to know there's real people left out there. You kinda forget sometimes, going to highschool.

Wow $120??? $400!!! Gee I'm glad I was restricted from mine (the principal wasn't a big fan of my prank during a pep assembly, although just about everyone else was, including the teachers!!) oh well it wouldn't have mattered, I wasn't too interested in school sponsored anything. I've learned that the best time that can be had is w/ friends and little money. You learned from this mistake, when you move out on your own you'll learn a whole bunch more. Trust me I did!!!

    Whoaaaaaaaaaaa!

What Jim Said! I was not a Geek! Damn I wish I was now but back then I was far from it! I was the first in my class that rode my 66 Bonnie with 8" over front wheel and had a custom panit job, With my Black Leather Jacket and Engine boots and all that good stuff!!! :blast: I was consider a "BAD BOY" and all the local police knew me real well! :error: No Geek here! But I was better known for being truthful with the ladies! That way no feelings got hurt! Heck I had a 9/16 open end wrench in my back pocket more then I ever had a pencil
