James has the setup on the oil return lines. Use the AN weld on bungs and then use the push loc style hoses. The would be NHRA legal as far as I know. If you are going to purchase a carb for this project the Edelbrock is not the way to go. James likes his Demon, I just bought a QuickFuel blow through from Bobb Makley. The point being that these carb do not need more modification for the application. It is usually cheaper to buy a carb setup for blow through than mod what you have. Here is the hose you need http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-220789/
I would suspect that your modified intake is more the culprit of your cold drivability issues. have you ever tried pulling the plugs and checking for consistency of mixture? Any really rich or lean vs the rest of them, I have 3 cylinders that run leaner then the other 5 which are the ones I use to tune my Nitrous with.
Jay, Could you snap a pic straight down into the plenum? There are a few things that need to be done to the stock manifold besides the divider. Could be a issue under boost conditions.
Jegs and Summit have it for about $680 plus whatever. Talk to Bobb and he can usually save a few bucks on their prices and has experience with the carb on a blown Buick. Parts are basically interchangeable with Holley. So all your old jets will work.
I'm not sure it has ever ran long enough to tell. The majority of the time I was chasing oil pressure issues. The plugs are on the workbanch now and they all look about the same..
Engine is ready to go back in. Fittings have been ordered for the oil pan and hopefully I can get them welded in before the weekend. If so, I should be able to get it back in and runnung next weekend. Sure hope I tightened the cam bolt.o No: Sucks when you put it all back together and think " I really don't remember tightning that bolt".. Ordered a 650 Barry Grant Blow Through.. Now I need to sell some pistols to fund this thing. I never shoot anymore anyway..
That is why I couldn't assemble a motor. There are times where I have to get out of bed to see if I locked the back door, even though my wife assures me I did. It's a mild form of OCD I guess. If I were you, I'd have to tear things down enough to check that bolt once the thought entered my mind.
I'll probably blow it up before the bolt comes loose anyway. Also something I didn't mention.. My JW torque converter arrived and all of my oil pump stuff from TA has been installed as well.. Wonder if I can get the timing cover back off and re-use the gasket???
Jay, thats a terrible attitude. A $15 gasket to double check $2000 of parts and machine work is well worth it. If you can get the cover off without ripping the gasket I would reuse it. I am still worried about how far back you are putting the drain in the pan. Good luck and I am pulling for you.
I'm moving it forward and using your setup. I hope I can make it fit. The 350 pan is shaped differently..
For anyone sitting on the edge of your seat.............................. It was TIGHT.. And I re-used the gasket with gray RTV.. It won't leak.. Onward..
BTW.. It was a cynical joke. It's just a car. In the end I allways win because I'm too bullheaded to give up. We'll make it work. It was a big bite to start on this car from a shell (with non OEM holes) with no drivetrain. I've spent tons of time just collecting parts. Not to mention the HOURS spent on bodywork and all of the HOURS spent on tons of other stuff.. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jay
I'm coming to Greenville with a checklist in my pocket... Smartass:laugh: Seriously.. I have work at ECU in December. I'll PM you and hopefully we can have a cold one:beer
I new you where just joking. Hang in there it is almost over. And you are welcome, I have enjoyed the ups and downs of the project.
