65 Gs / 65 Gto Am probably going to put the GTO on eBay . It has less than 58,000 actual miles , all numbers matching , have alot of paperwork including original bill of sale , have put alot of money into it over the past year including full detailing of the under carriage , new exhaust with splitters , new ceramic Pontiac reproduction exhaust headers , and alot of other detailing . I bought the car a year ago from Volo Auto Museum in Illinois . I'm the third owner and have spoke to the lady that bought it new in California and who had it until 1995 . Bottom line is I'm not sure yet what I'll set reserve at but it won't go real cheap . This is a very nice original car with one re-paint , and when re-painted they left under the hood , under the trunk lid , the trunk , and door jams un-painted so you could see just how original the car is . I'll keep you posted when it hit's eBay . I may wait for the Barrett-Jackson auction to see what happens to prices then . The car is not a 100% perfect trailer queen but would be a low 1 or high 2 . If you go to The Ultimate Pontiac GTO Picture Site and click on 65 GTO's and then newest images there are more pictures of it . I'll keep you posted , George
I finally found a RH taillight! Here is it all finished and installed in the car. I tried to get a picture showing how nice the chrome was on both taillights, but they show the reflections of the trees in the woods behind the car as you can see.
Looks great Brian! Where were you displaced from? I got my BA in Radford. Another red 65 should return to duty in May if all goes well. Cheryl
I grew up in the Roanoke area and graduated from VA Tech in Engineering. All of my family is still in the Roanoke/Bedford County area. Are you from that area, or did you just go to school there? Target completion date for my car is the end of March. The last two things I am waiting on are my door panels that are at SMS Auto Fabrics in Oregon being re-made, and my steering wheel that is being re-cast by D&D Automobilia. Door panels have been promised the end of this month, and Don promised the steering wheel to me in time for the Charlotte Autofair show the first week of April that I plan to show the car at.
Hi Brian, Looks fantastic. I want to come to Charlotte just to see your car! :TU: Dang scheduling conflict right now. Ted
I am entering it in the AACA show they have there on Sat. in the grass area at the start finish line. I am in the AACA and I know they won't like the headers, big cam and radial tires on it, but that show is in the best location at the autofair and I just want to get it in there to show it off. If my dad comes down for the weekend to drive it for me, I am going to have my '64 sitting right beside it at the show too. Just pray it doesn't rain, because if it does, I am not even opening the garage door!
No, I finished up my last two years there, but came from a less populated part of NJ. I went because I liked the area and they had a good CRJU program. After I finished my MA in NYC, (talk about one extreme to the other) I tried to find a job back in that area, but did not get much help through the school. Otherwise, I would have been happy to make that my home base. It is nice here in PA hills, but along the blue ridge there is some of the best parts of the county and some of the best people I have met! Cheryl
That is interesting--my sister-in-law graduated from RU in criminal justice. She is a seargant for the Roanoke City sherrifs department now and works at the city jail. What years were you there?
Interior Pictures Since I am so close to being done, I have been working extra hard on it the last couple of weeks. Here is a shot of the interior I took this morning. Door panels and rear armrests are supposed to be back from SMS sometime next week. I found a set of red front mats that are in the mail to me now. I took it for the first real drive last night too--anything over half throttle in 1st gear and it breaks the back tires loose. I opened it up in 2nd gear and all I can say is wow! That is all I had room to do on the road in front of my house. Anything else will have to wait for tags/insurance. Definitely figured out I am going to have to make a custom piece for the upper Z-bar to clear the header better--it gets some wicked vibrations in the clutch pedal when it is all the way out and that piece of the z-bar hits on the header.
Brian, you're 65 looks awesome!! it's nice to see all your hard work and attention to detail is finally coming together. Keep those pictures coming we love to see them! Be careful without those plates....
The outside is complete as of last week. It actually wasn't raining on Sun. afternoon, so I washed it up and took some pictures. Inside is complete with the exception of the door panels which are in-route to me and will be here this week.
What's next? Let's see: -Wire lights/outlets in that gray metal garage you see in the background of the picture -Do the same in my storage building -Finish the driveway to that metal garage -Install the furnace I bought for the garage on the house -Install the standby generator I got a screaming deal on a few months ago -Install the antenna/cable wires in the house (laying across the floor right now) -Install a sink in the house garage -Re-paint the hood on my daily driver '97 Accord -Install the factory PW/Pseat setup I got for my '66 from Bill Sangster -fix the ice maker on my refrigerator I could go on like this for about 2 pages! As you can tell, I have been putting off a bunch of other stuff to focus on and finish up the GS!!!
Bryan,if you and some Buick people are going to be at the Spring Auto Fair please let me know,I would like to see some faces.I'm fairly new to the board and mostly read when I visit.I have, along with two other friends, some 16 spots on the red field,I finally got the whole corner,it only took me 7 years. We have tents and plenty of chairs for anyone to sit on and take a break. When the time comes I'll pray for good weather and hope that your car can make it and I would like for you to show it to me and explain not just the beauty of the '65 but some of the pain that went into it.Must feel good to see how far it has come at your hand.I lived in Hampton Roads/Tidewater for 14 yrs.,married a girl from Franklin and met some very fine people in Va.It's a place for me worth visiting more often.
I will be there walking around looking at parts for sale on Thurs and Fri., then have the GS and my '64 in the AACA show in the grass area at the start finish line on Sat. Email me your space numbers and I will find you on Fri. (stonesautomotive@juno.com). I acutally live in NC now--I am in Mocksville about 1 hr. north of the speedway. My parents still live near Roanoke, VA out in Bedford County.
It is finally finished I finally got the door panels and rear arm rests last Thursday and put the rest of the interior together. I spent Sunday afternoon cleaning the car from top to bottom, so it is ready for the AACA show at the Charlotte Autofair on Sat.
