1972 455 with factory gauges. I just got a 06402383 temp sender, from lectric limited that takes a female connector. The sensor that is in the car at this time has a slotted connector. I think the new one is correct. Lectric limited said that the connector on the original wire harness fits either sensor, and someone has the wrong sensor installed. want to be sure before changing it.

Original sensor was almost flush with the intake. It had a single blade coming straight out the top that was vertical. Show us what you got.

A lot of places sell the button type sensor that has the connector slide over the button horizontal. That is not correct. Unfortunately no one makes exact like original sensor.

With some of this stuff, you really have to draw a line otherwise you will slip into insanity.

Just installed a new sender last week, looked like Korrie's photo (Autozone special). Wire was too short with it feeding straight up and the old sender was at an angle, so I just bent the connector over. Tested it before I installed it and it still worked.

That is not what was original on car. Parts book may show it as a replacement but it was not what came on the car. I have had several original gauge cars and I can tell you that’s not it.

One Doo Woo shows looks like a non gauge unit to me. My 75 printing parts book does not show that part number. Original installed on assembly line part number for 70-71 is clearly shown here in the assembly manual. Highly likely 72 is the same. It’s part number 6402383 69573D6F-09BE-48E9-AE6A-29CCF5721F36.jpeg

I thought everybody had a handful of these in their hoard. I'll see if I can get a pic up tomorrow of an NOS one. That's definitely not the one in Korrie's pic.

Take a look close at Larrys image . 2nd from right shows the correct assembly line part number. You are set. See how great this site is!
