We had it last night for dinner. Coborn's had it on sale for $0.19 an ear. My wife didn't look where it came from. I suspect it wasn't local. I've only noticed one corn field here that's been harvested.
Around here it's $5 for a baker's dozen, and it's really good this year. It's also the best laxative on the market
Funny thing about corn, no matter how much you chew it, it somehow gets put back together before it comes out.
I been eating corn from my back yard for a month. I planted 3 crops a month apart each. Im just about to start eating the second batch. I did the same carrots , beets, one crop of broccoli, monster tomato plants this year. I use my Jack O Lane juicer for the carrots and beets. I tried one plant of yellow squash to juice with the carrots and beet. Holy crap gave me one of the worst couple hrs on the toilet in bowl pain solid crap then gravy then pissing out my ass, and a ton of gas. I turned that yellow squash into mulch, never again.
That’s something I miss living in Florida, good sweet corn. Have tried several venues down here and it’s tasteless dry crap. I’ll take Western PA or Ohio corn any day.
I will have to say Pennsylvania right in the middle in Turbot Ville is war I had the best corn. I even had some Shoe Fly Pie for the first time there. And not far from the Williams port air port the absolute best Sticky Buns Ever!
Nothing local yet in my neck of the woods, and I did not plant corn this year, but in a couple weeks there will be some fantastic sweet corn around. Waiting to try some "honey butter" corn a farmer friend of mine planted. I guess it it some new hybrid? I miss the silver queen I used to grow, but our resident black bear family destroyed my last few years corn crops, despite a 2 jule electric fence, so corn is out for now till they find somewhere else to hang out. I actually tried growing popcorn for the first time a few years back. That was the tastiest popcorn I have ever had. It pops up a bit smaller than redenbachers, but the actual corn flavor will blow you away. The bears got most of it, though.
