Sorry Scubasteve, in south Florida sweet corn season was way back in March, and it was good!
Just had some Virginia sweet corn and it doesn't come close to Florida's.
Sorry you all had to wait so long. Enjoy!

If anyone here is going to the Wisconsin State Fair, I can hook you up with a free ear of the best roasted corn around...

    1. Walk into corn field.
    2. Set heat source in place.
    3. Husk ear while still attached to stalk.
    4. Bend stalk, putting ear into heat source (fire or water) for 10 minutes.
    5. Butter and salt to taste.
    6. Eat.

Any thing else and your giving up flavor.

I'm not sure that the above is a FACT, but sweet Georgia Vidalia Onions are the best.

Michael last time i picked sweet corn . The field was loaded with Big black spiders. And yes they had yellow markings on them. Brought big sack home white feed bag. Not to leave out in the heat. Set down in basement were it was cool. That night one of the Big Black spiders was seen crawling out of the bag. I slept with one Eye open.

Steve, that was probably a black and yellow garden spider. Not a threat to us but they are good to have around as they eat the insects that eat the corn.

A few years ago I went scuba diving with some friends at a farm in Hickory Pa. The farmer was growing Pa. sweet onions. He had them tested and the sugar content was higher than the Vidalia onions. Very good. I get sweet corn from a farmer about a mile down the road. Picked fresh every day. I only get what I will eat that day. A few days ago dinner was corn watermellon and antipasta salad. Great.
