Do they have a live feed at that track?

Herb this is a 2 day test and tune so I doubt it. We will be doing run video from both on car and at car perspectives.
We will be at the track about 7:30 and unload and fire the car about 6000' less elevation than the house..... We will warm the car and get teched in. First pass should be about 8:45-9am and run until about 5pm. Then the 500+ mile ride home at 55mph:puzzled:gotta love Cali....

    Stay tuned

CA has a 55 mph speed limit? Another good reason to stay in the East.

55 is meaningless to most Californians. I got in the fast lane (without a trailer) and had to get out when I almost got rundown at almost 90 in my diesel. Some guy in the lane next to me was pulling his junk trailer at over 80! John will post some test times. Let me just say he blew the tires off and had to back off!

John anything with a trailer is limited to 55mph all others are 70 makes sense right.

Well we had a great time yesterday...... This was the first time we had all worked together as a team and we thought it went very well.
We fired the car up in the pits and got a lot of peoples attention. We fueled the car and set the timing at 32 locked to be easy on it the first pass. This car also uses a mechanical fuel injection system. Which requires a lot of manual fine tuning in the pits. We looked at what we had and came up with a tune for the fuel.
The first pass was to be an easy one. Launch soft and accelerate down the track (like getting up on the highway) to make sure all was well with the driveline. We have a GoPro video (that was mounted on the front axle facing back) which came out great. We also had one of my sons filming also and that came out great. We made a good pass, as in no leaks, no questionable noises, car went straight and pulled about three G,s on the race pack all the way down.
Next pass leaned out the fuel a little to bring up the power.......... and

Blew the tires off going in to second. Looked all over the track on that pass.

3rd pass was 15 minutes after the second. packed the chute, fueled up and into the lanes as they closed.
3rd pass blew the tires at about 150-250 feet out, staightened out got back into it and made a decent pass to close out the day.
I'll post pictures and video links after we convert the video later today.

    Here are 2 pictures
1st one is about 400' out just into second and up on the limiter, look to the sides and back of the tire at the haze.
2nd is a shot in the lanes, just in case it did not look this good after the 1st pass.

Ill let the first pass picture do the rest of the story when I post it tonight (times and speed shown)

Most of the video is uploaded. Sorry for them being a little grainy/low quality. I exceeded my band width so I had to cut the resolution a bit. I will upload better quality when my Satellite resets in a week or so. Until then you can follow this video and click on the recent uploads.
    Thanks for the positive responses:TU:

I do too just not in first:shock:.
We should be in the mid to low 7's next time out.
The sound of this engine is nice to listen too:3gears:

I will try to lower the shift point into the 5700-5800 range was 6150 and see if that helps. I plan to raise the power level about 15-20% next time out also. The track was getting cold trying to hook it on Sunday evening.
We had fun and that's what it's about:TU:

Just wanted to update this thread. I was reading through it trying to get motivated on getting ready for this weekend.

Since the last update we moved from Arizona to Florida and we are now set up in a new shop, that some of you have seen:grin:.My health has greatly improved not being 1.5 miles above sea level, now at 3' above sea level:laugh: We ordered the mag drive from Dunn services and that arrived yesterday. It is already in the car I will wire the external coil and kill switch tomorrow.I removed the MSD and all the rev-limit capabilities of that system. That is what I am used to so not to concerned about running with out it. We added a weight plate in the nose of the car to hold up to 125 lbs. We will start with about 68 lbs for this weekend. Hoping to not carry the front so far down the track and causing the rear to unload. I will post more pictures in the next few days.

Well a month has gone by and life, work, and weather have been priority. Work is what pays for the addiction.
Today we finished "all" the work on the car and even prepped the raw chassis so it won't rust down here:grin:
Last week we ran it for the first time at sea level. It sounded a little soft so this week we researched a new fuel tune and set it up.
The car is ready to go in the trailer and head to the track. We are going on Sunday morning if the weather is on our side. Saturday we will go if the morning work load is mellow.
Here is a shot of the car in the shop and ready to go:3gears: Supercat 7 4 14.JPG

I was able to see John this weekend at Orlando Speedway
As they say - Start it and they will come.... how true. Every time John started this motor people would come to see what it was.
No one knew it was a Buick! And all were surprised when told.

John only got one pass before the rain, and it rained hard!
I believe it was 10.31, an easy pass for testing, and the fuel valve shut itself half way down the track.
And wouldn't you know my phone locked up just after the last picture so I did not get a great video of the burn out or the people covering their ears when John smoked em! LOL

Videos will follow (they're uploading now)

You can hear the car almost shut down at the end and then come back to life when John realized the fuel had shut itself off. he added a spring to the valve to prevent this on future runs.
