Ken didn't those four screws fall in the abyss:puzzled: Have fun we'll figure it out when you get back. We may not need it if I stick the Mag in it:grin:

Johnny yes October is coming fast. Looking forward to time with old friends and even some new ones:TU:

John it was nice meeting you out in Ohio. I am still laughing about one of the stories you told us. When you won a race and after the loser came over and was in disbelief stating he never got beat by a Buick to which your son quickly replied "until today sir". Cant wait to see and hear this car in person.:TU:

Well we have been busy with life again:Dou:. Jenn and I have gotten more done on the Supercat.
We made the new dash face.
I finished welding up the 4 port intake.
I need to pick up the modified oil pan from my tig guy.
The flex plate is in Florida getting a new SFI sticker.
A few other parts are getting re-certed.
The mandrel pipes should be here in the next few days for the Zoomies.
Ken got me the missing parts for the ignition:grin:
The Racepak software and cable are ordered.
The new mounting panel for the Racepak, MSD, and Battery is in and secured.
We have the new 2nd parachute required for advanced ET.
The new roll-cage padding is installed( isp padding is more like rigid wood than a pad)
Trying to finish up the wiring this week.
I need to finish adapting the Chevy fuel pump drive to fit on the engine.

I will post some more pictures later today or tomorrow of the progress.

Herb it was good meeting you also.....

Well we have about 34 days before we head to Bowling Green with the car:eek2: Loads of little things to do.
I am waiting for the delivery guy to get here with our JW parts that had to be re-certed. I am also waiting for my custom pipes that I had formed for the Zoomies, should be here today also.
I figured I would post a few more shots from today showing that we completed more of the little things on the list.
We removed the water pump and made an aluminum plate to cover the hole.
I am almost done with the mag drive so I can remove the MSD from the equation :Brow:
I dropped off the Hilborn base to the powder-coater today. We had to make a custom base to mount to the cool-runner intake.
Most of the oil system is now plumbed. The oil system and fuel pump are mounted to a bulkhead in front of the engine. These are both belt drive.
I will post more pictures when I get the parts back from the powdercoating.
Also a few of the zoomies when I get them cut and welded in.

Don't forget to plug that hole in the back of the intake!!

Eric what hole? The little one just below the 4port or the larger one at the bottom. The small one at the top will have a fixed vacuum gauge threaded in. I have a plug for the other:Brow:

Today I need to get a handle on the trans and finish that, as the re-certed flywheel will be here from JW later today, along with the new drum shield for the trans.

I'll post some more shots later today.

    Thanks Jim. See Ya Soon:TU:

Curtis the Supercat must of slipped by as it has been awful quiet lately. Like a Cat in the night although not for long:laugh:.

Well today all the transmission pieces came in. Our old power glide looked a little worse than it is, so with all the SFI parts it is new again.
We will be using a JW ultra trans with the Tomahawk but this one is no light weight. As you can see in the pictures I cut the bell off the trans case so I could add the Ultra bell. Pretty straight forward deal. Then I found where I had put the handle for the trans and installed that. Next came the JW trans shield that came today. The last shot shows all the SFI parts installed and ready to go. I will install the JW flywheel in the morning.
As you can see in the last picture my trans now has a handle on it. So my earlier post is complete."Today I need to get a handle on the trans and finish that"

Wednesday will be the exhaust day:TU:

Here are a few shots of the exhaust on the Cat. I just need to weld the two tie bars on the pipes this weekend.

We had the oil pump rebuilt and changed the rotation on it while it was on their bench. We are also using the oil pump to drive the fuel pump. We have the pump mounted in front of the engine(facing it), so we would have more room for the safety equipment that we need to run on the car.
The Vacuum pump was also increased to pull almost 90% of its capacity.
I will post more pictures of the Cat on Sunday.

Less than three weeks until we are blasting down the track at Bowling Green:TU:

The fuel pump drive came in yesterday in the form of the newly rebuilt oil pump. The oil pump drives the fuel pump which eliminates 1 more belt on the front of the engine. We changed the rotation on the oil pump so that the pump could be mounted facing the engine. We needed the space for the Diaper and box pan under the engine. Ken got that taken care of at Dailey Engineering last week:TU:.
We are just waiting for a few little things to come in in the next few days.
Post more as the parts come in.
We will be in Bowling Green 2 weeks from today:3gears:

BTY this oil pump is quite a bit smaller than the one for the Fuel Tomahawk motor.

<<<<<<<<IT'S ALIVE>>>>>>>>Well we finished up the last few things on the dragster the other day and finished reading the 85 pages of info for the RacePak. Sunday afternoon we rolled the car out of the shop and filled it with 5 gallons of methanol. We checked over all the electronic functions, spun it up for oil pressure(85psi) off the starter:TU:. We had done a quick set of the timing and hoped for the best:pray:. Amazingly it lit right off..... I still have some adjusting of the barrel valve for the fuel but that will wait until we are not at 7100 ft. elevation.

Next was to do a quick trans check. I have never used a 2 step on any of my cars so this was a first. I have the transbrake, 2 step, tach recorder (on function), and the RacePak (on function) all tied to the button on the shifter. All worked as intended.
It was wild to see how effortless this engine spins the big tires:eek2:
The best 60' with the nailhead was a 1.11 I think that will go away quickly with this engine.

One last test of the shift button for the electronics. Shift light also works:TU: never had that function before.

The dragster is sitting on 2 concrete blocks with a board on top. We thought it was amazing that when you hit the throttle it jumps off the blocks.......One last fire up for some friends that stopped by. Between these 4 video clips the Cat drank 5.5 gallons of methanol:grin:.
We are hoping to go to Las Vegas on Friday or Saturday this week.
Sounds like it will be a fun ride:3gears:

The video came out real dark after it was converted for some reason.

Hey John, I tried calling you twice about Briz's hood section. You going to be down the hill any time soon? :)

Well today was a good, actually great day. We drove over to Las Vegas today with the Cat in the trailer, and after six weeks of waiting the Cat passed its 6.0 Cert on the chassis with flying colors...... We are good to go for another 3 years or until the Tomahawk is ready to run. So with the new sticker and the car ready to run we kept driving west from Las Vegas. Tonight we are in Bakersfield California. Ken Betts showed up witin 2 minutes of the time we arrived.
Sunday is the day:pray:We will head to the track at 7am and for the first time in a few years the Cat will stretch its legs at the Famoso Raceway. The first pass will be interesting for sure. The goal is anything over 150 and anywhere in the 8s. Faster and quicker than that is a bonus. This will be the first pass and day of racing for Ken and our family as a Team.

I will post more Sunday if I can. We will also have the GoPro and a few cameras to hopefully record a good run.
I will post timeslips as I get the time
