69 Cougar, dark green, black interior, four speed, CJ428. I do not remember XR-7 badges on it though. It was sitting outside on the lot in the dark when we went to look at it. I was driving my 61 Chevy Biscayne, 235 six, powerglide then so when I took this for the test drive I thougfht I was in heaven. But alas, dad said he would not be my cosigner on the cougar, he did not like that car.
I did not consider Buicks till after dad came home with the 71 Electra, trading in our 63 Chrysler New Yorker station wagon with the 413. I was so impressed at how that Electra pulled even with the smog 455.

To look back in hindsight it would be a GS, Stage1, four speed no question, but in Strato Mist Blue...

I didn't know much about Buicks back then but I did buy my Skylark in 1977 2 years after graduation. Still driving it too.
If I would have known then what I do now it would have been a GS 455.

My first musclecar recollection is from 1970. I was six and sitting in the back of my parents '65 LeMans. We pulled up to a taco stand near Vasona Park in Los Gatos, California (I'm a Los Gatos General Hospital baby). I was aghast at the B5 blue, winged, monster parked next to us; and at the same time thrilled to see my cartoon buddy, the Roadrunner on a big decal on the upright. I was probably already a car guy, but from that moment on it was certainly a done deal. I'd have brought one home. My limited plastic model collection (and I've probably built 50 or so lifetime and only two cars) does include a QQ GSX, and a B5 Blue, 440 Six Pack Superbird.

No question at all - the GS. Went home from the hospital in dad's 39 Buick and have loved the marque more than all others as long as I've been aware of cars (could name most cars on the road when I was three so 68 years). Second choice would be the Olds and then a toss up between the Chevy and Pontiac. Must confess that all of them would be a great ride.
