I wanted a 70 Camaro when I was 16. looking at the photos now the Buick is honestly the best looking car to me. Second is the 442. the other two just don't do it for me.

It's not one of your choices, but it would have been the 1970 Hemi 4 speed Superbird........Then out of your choices it would have been the LS6 4 speed Chevelle SS, then an Apollo white GSX Stage 1 4 speed.

    hmmm , 1970 , I was 19 .
buick dealer up the street from garage had a white GSX parked out front . drooled over that while driving by more than once . ( edit - it was phillip's buick Pontiac gmc I believe , Oneonta , NY )
older lady would stop by garage once a week . son was in Vietnam and her job was to "dust off the cobwebs" of her sons '69 440 RT . not stock . nice ! she never complained . so I would say maybe a '70 440-6 roadrunner . always loved that body style .

It would have been a 70 Big Block Corvette convertible. During the 69 model year my brother, who was 12 years older then me, took me up to the local Chevy dealer (Dick Barone Chevrolet for those in the area) and sat me in a brand new 69 vette in the showroom. I remember all the people snickering at this little kid in the car. My brother was outside smoking with the salesman and when they came in the salesman gave me a Corvette dealer brochure. I looked at that so much the pages fell apart. I wanted one of those cars bad.

That's one reason, when I was 16, that I wanted the "used" 70 Motion Corvette so bad that was on a used car lot in my area. I couldn't really choose which one I wanted more, the 7o Motion coupe, or the 69 Green Vette convertible with Flames that was sitting next to it. I remember going back for months looking at both cars until they were sold. Never saw either car again.

Honestly, the 442. Mom's Cutlass sport wagon sold me on the ride quality and power.

Had this conversation with the family last night over beers. '67 and '70 seemed like almost every car by every manufacturer was pretty awesome. '67 was the best of the square, angular type muscle, '70 was the best all around of the more modern, rounder cars.

  14. I would have went for the Olds ..

  15. funny thing about the 70 SuperBirds, back in 70 nobody wanted them and they sat on lots forever waiting for a buyer. from what I read some were still sitting on lots in 1971

That was me----well, except for the part about having the $4,000.

My first answer would be "none of the above", as a Camaro was my pick that year. Somewhere I still have the sales brochure with all the right options checked off.

Sticking to the choices offered, it would not have been the Buick or the Olds. I was barely aware they made anything exciting, and dismissed them as old peoples' cars.
So that leaves the Chevelle and the GTO----I would take the GTO, then and now.

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

IF the choices are not limited to the pictures shown, I would have chosen a '67 GTX. Almost bought one for $400 from Staal Buick in 1973. It was with the 440, automatic, 36,000 miles. It was full of door dings on both sides (people were a-holes about that back then), so needed both sides painted. I test drove it and it was a turd. I was disappointed. I failed to look at it's potential, instead I wanted instant gratification apparently. Wound up buying a '69 Z/28RS. Still have it.
In 1977, after my divorce, I was working for an auto broker. As brokers, we could not actually own cars, so I often bought trade-ins. One was a '67 GTX, from Utah, with minor front damage for $800. At the time, I was paying storage for the Z and also owned a '68 LeMans with a 400, 4-speed, 4:11 rear, and a '74 Gremlin X Levi Edition, blue w/orange stripes. With no place to put them, I sold them all, except for, obviously, the Z. Bought a very clean '72 Cutlass Supreme. After that, there were many, many more.

    I'll go with.............
    1- LS 6 4sp
    2- GS Stage1 4sp
    3- 442 w-30 4sp
    4- GTO RA 4sp

Never cared much for that style GTO when they were new, still don't today.

Of course, any of those choices would have to be BLACK!

Going off the list Id have to go with the Chevelle ss ls6 Back when young before I knew about Buicks was always a Chevy fan first.
I could go with a long list of 1970 cars Id like to have though, was the best year in styling for the manufacturers. And performance.

Just a few more 70 models Id love to have even now
1970 Trans Am ram air IV (since I cant chose a 69 trans am)
1970 Apollo white Gsx Stage 1
    1970 Roadrunner 440
