Well, my car's only got one cherry bomb muffler on it, and it makes it loud and makes it sound similar to a small block V8, so just imagine what it would make a 425 cubic inch sound like:eek2: :Brow:

I have flowmasters on one of my GS350s (not by choice, bought it this way) and Dyno Max Turbo's on my GS455. Both cars have headers.

The flowmasters have a race car sound all the time. At idle it is impossible to do any tuning, because you can't hear the motor over the noise, and you can't tell if it is the motor making bad noises or the exhaust just popping. Better invest in a good stereo and set of speakers (I did) because the resonance will make your ears bleed. The stereo helps, but doesn't fix the problem. I'll be puting an Xpipe or a new set of mufflers on that car very soon.

The Dyno Max mufflers have a very low tone at idle, it makes my 455 sound like a 555. If you want a "deep musclecar rumble," these are the way to go. They are "quiet" at idle (I'd say roughly twice as loud as a new Cobra mustang, or something of that nature) but when the secondaries open up, everyone for 2 square miles knows it. It is a very nice, deep, tuned sound that I can't get enough of. And on top of that, they are about 1/2 the price of flowmasters.

That's my story, and I'm stickin to it. :TU:

Shame that they don't list the size specs. Riv mufflers are long, narrow and thin. They sure will fit, but I'm afraid glasspacks will be too loud for Mrs. Nailhead.:puzzled:

Well, cherry bombs are not like flowmasters then, because it don't sound like a race car. It matches the dyno max mufflers the most, except it does not make my car sound like a muscle car, but what do you expect, it's a 231 non-turbo 6 cyl.? But it does make the car sound good when you step on the gas,and it makes the car sound like it has a small block V8 at idle, and yet at the same time, it is not very loud on the highway, but it allows enough noise for you to know that the car is still running. It makes my car sound like it's got a little something more under the hood.:Brow:

I used to have a 69 Cad Fleetwood 4-door, 472ci. It had 4 "Cherry Bombs"! A 3 footer primary and later near the rear, a 2 footer. (Each side!!)

Sounded very mellow and somewhat quiet. Until one of them blew out. W:eek2:W, even just missing one muffler made it QUITE ABIT LOUDER!! I fixed that the same day!

These days though, I VERY MUCH prefer the sound of 'turbo-style' mufflers. ESPECIALLY the Walker Dynomax's!:TU:

Flowmaster's sound VERY cool..... on someone else's ride! To loud and rumbley for my taste's.

I'm with Chris on this! :beer

Well, the cherry bomb on my car is quite loud, but it's loud enough to hear from 2 miles away either. The sound of the cherry bomb muffler on my car flows right with it. It doesn't make the car a loud patriot. But doese add an excellent touch. One reason for my car being loud with the cherry bomb might be because it tachs out some high RPM's. Not really high, but it tachs out some good RPM's when you step on it a little, and i do plenty of that. In my opinion, the cherry bomb muffler is a great muffler if you are looking for something cheap, and sounds good. On the other hand, thrush is another good muffler. I don't know much about them except they sound good on V8's:TU:

I never knew you could do that. Maybe that's what I could do, 4 mufflers. Wish I had a catalog though, and I can't find a website that lists sizes, lengths and specs. maybe I'll make a trip to Auto Zone tomorrow.:Brow:

    buickman70 I pirated this pic!!!

I have not heard the magnaflows but I hate flowmasters. Flowmasters sound great at idle and at full throttle but the drone at cruising speeds will drive you carazy. Dynomax Super Turbos (make sure they are the super) are the best I have heard (besides the old 30" Thrush Hush's but they don't make them anymore :( )

I bought one of these [IMG]
For my regal but never put it on, it's just sitting in my room looking for a car to be put on. My regal was *loud* that one day that the cat decided to fall apart over a speed bump (driving that home was real fun, seriously! WOT would get stares that followed you the entire block, lol).

    Get your glasspacks HERE!

Feel free to look at your local auto parts store, mine used to have garbage cans full of these in ALL different sizes. I'm kinda suprised that JC Whitney only shows these. :Do No:
The price seems to have jumped SUBSTANTIALLY!:jd: I think they used to be from $4-15!

Suggestion, get the LARGEST, and LONGEST case you can fit, and get four of them. Otherwise with a BBB, you might not like the sound, or the DB either!:Smarty:

    Dynomax

Hey guys, are you using the seamed dynomax mufflers, or the fully welded? From what I see, the welded mufflers are about the same price as flowmasters. I cant find part # 17769 in any of my mags. I am particularly interested in the dynomax ultra flow mufflers with the fully welded seams, does anyone run them, and what do they think of them. I am looking for a deep, mellow, more modern sound for my big block. More mellow than flowmasters.
I have flowmaster 40 series 2.5" on my 350, with 10.5:1 comp, and TA 310 cam. This thing sets off car alarms at idle, sounds like a race car, and resonates the whole car at low speeds. I really like the way it sounds, but the resonation is rather annoying if you drive it daily.

I bought my glasspack at bumper to bumper (for around $36 incl. tax) in case anyone is wondering whether or not they carry them.

Greg Schmelzer What are you looking at?!

    Re: Dynomax

Skyman, I got the part number out of a Dynomax catalog, dealer edition. Cost was $83.97 each. They are 3" in/out, center/bottom and flow either way. They are seamed at the ends and welded along the length of the muffler.

You might want to try a dealer and see if they can get them, but I doubt that you will get vendor cost, but it doesn't hurt to try.
