My thoughts are with you regarding your mom. No one teaches us what to expect or how to feel when we lose parents and close family and friends.

I was on board for two knobs but will up my order to three.

    Thanks,

Here are the photos of the one prototype that i have produced. Three photos are in brass from the CNC machineing and the other two are after chroming and placed along side my OEM original for your comparison. It was produced from a CAD program from my original knob, so the size is exactly the same as the OEM knob. I welcome your comments on the prototype. All that i have to do is formalize the production process at the least cost and establish what they will be offered for sale at. I will supply them all chromed ready to install. I will update everyone as soon as i have things confirmed.

I think they turned out nice and you were able to figure out picture posting! I think you'll be OK as long as the judges don't suspect fowl play and whip out the spline gage for the knurling job LOL. It still a GRAND improvement over that pot metal stuff.. I never did get that. Even on the Chris Craft boat stuff the entry level boats had chrome plated ZAMAC (pot metal/die cast) deck fittings and the next higher end models had EXACTLY the same hardware cast in Naval bronze- a MONUMENTAL difference in appearance and longevity. ws

    Just for chuckles..

Ok everyone sorry this is taking so long ! I have looked into the Best,Easiest and Least expensive method to reproduce the knobs, to ensure they are Exactly like the OEM ones that G M produced. With the help of my Watchmaker friend we have produced a CAD design, machined a prototype in brass, of which i posted photos of earlier and looked into production options to keep the cost as low as possible. We then created a mold and looked into casting them in bronze. This method took some time and unfortunately did not give me the finished product, without a lot of hand work, that would resemble the OEM knob ready for chrome plateing. So we determined the Best way to produce an OEM looking knob was to machine them out of brass, ready for chrome plateing. This i have done and have just received 40 pieces ready for plateing. We now know the design and machine costs and will have the plateing costs as soon as they are done. This shouldn't take too long. At that point i will confirm the price of the knobs and will look into the possibility of a shipped price for those of you in North America. Thanks for being patient with getting these ready to put on your Star Wars Air Cleaners. Bob IMG_0281[1].jpg IMG_0286[1].jpg IMG_0287[1].jpg

Thanks for the update and great job. To anyone who has never taken on a reproduction job like this, there is a tremendous amount of up front labor involved and many "two-steps up and one step back" scenarios. It takes a lot of persistence to see it through.

Once the process is complete if you want I'll make sure we place a snippet in the Riviera Owners Association magazine for you.
