What the best process to clean and shine up stainless rocker moldings without have them polished professionally? 70-72 skylark

You can use simichrome. If you want it locally, walk into any motorcycle shop. It takes the blue off bike exhaust pipes.

Mothers works just as well too

0000 steel wool, acetone and Mother's chrome polish worked for me.

Mine came out great but I was lucky they were devoid of any dents or deep scratches.

I used the 3M tape instead of trying to paint them. Much easier.

Pinstripe tape. 1/4" red. Lays out nice. You typically need 2 rolls. Trimbrite is one brand. I'm sure there are others.

Simichrome works very well, but there is some work involved. As Jason said, any motorcycle shop that's worth anything will have it.

Do you hand apply? Or have to have a buffer?

I use a mini buffer....high speed right angle grinder with a velcro pad and the wool pads from HB....crank it up and use regular compound myself...semi chrome is better buy compound is convenient....sand with 2000 grit and give it hell....to truly polish like Adam does you have to strip it..but that's a whole different process....anybody gets on their knees to look at my rocker panel polish job I'll push them on into the dirt
