What happened to the animated crankshaft and pistons/rods on the top left corner of the pages? o No: I wonder if it blew a rod or spun a bearing since it was up there running for so long without an oil pump.
Mike has been on the hunt for what has been causing a couple of glitches in the system that we have seen, and removed that element for testing purposes. JW
The crank was cool, but I kind of like the simpler V8 header instead, for now... In fact, the animated crank was a pain in the a$$ on my work computer, running WIN98, as it made my mouse arrow blink to the point you almost couldn't spot it on screen when the crank was also on screen. Now at home, with WinXP, I had no problems at all. ??? I think guys with dial up service also had issues with the extra graphics.
Yes David, those are a couple of the concerns we are addressing. V-Bulletin is graphic intensive as it is, and we believe the extra animation was adding to that situation. JW
I never had any probs with the crank.. on home (win 98 W/dial up) or at work (T1 and NT). o No: Figured I'd let U know that everything was fine on my end. :TU:
Boring Logo!!! OK guy's, Yes, the Logo on the top of the page is BORING. Well, I guess it's time for another contest!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here's what we need: 2 Color Logo. Easy to Read. Gives image of what V8Buick is about. I know we had a logo conters before, but never came up with a final design. The on line tool box was one of my favorites but the pic was too busy. THINK SIMPLE!!!!!! Have fun! BTW, I'll figure out a prize list!!!

Logo! Yes, that logo is my favorite. Works well for hats, t-shirts, etc. I wish it could be setup for a header on a website. It's square shape is hard to manage on a header. If someone could spread it out like 1" high by about 3" wide it would work great on the site. I think Mike Atwood cam up with the design, I would have to look back and see who made it. If he or anyone can break it apart a little, I think that's the one to use. I will put it up and you can see what I mean....

I agree, we need more imput on this one. Vote on one that is posted, criticize it, create your own, something!!!! We need to come up with a new logo! I really like mike's first one, although it has to be shown in a full resolution for you to see the real beauty of it. I also like your newest versions Mike. Let's get some more ideas flowin here!
I won't comment on anything other they why the animated graphic can cause problems. Animated GIF's use CPU Cycles. Some browsers don't help the situation any by chewing up so much themselves. What happens is not connection dependent, but system dependent. If you have a speedy-gonzales system, even creeping along at 14.4k won't yeild any problems (other then wondering why your still using a 14.4k modem). Tho, put any type of connection on a dinosour and you'll have problems. For those of you with NT, W2k or XP, right click on the tasktray and choose TaskManager. Switch to the Process tab and have a look.. For unfortunat Win9x users, there's always 3rd party apps.. Might I suggest NetStat Live from AnalogX. Now, what's wrong with the orignal image by Mike? It looks good as it is.. If you want a banner graphix (the wide & short image), I'd suggest nice and wide.. Tho, I'd probably suggest keeping the orignal image of Mikes and putting it on either side with V8Buick.com H1'd in the center. Or even jazz up that text into a graphic and put it in the center of the two outter images. As to the image count on the site, I don't think many complaints have been filed, even amonst 28.8k users as the emoicons are small enough to download fast. Tho when you have threads where people post pics instead of links, it gets a bit disturbing.. I'll shutup now, and continue catching up from my absense.
