Are you still using the paper fuel filter in the fuel inlet nut on the carb?

Read my post above Lary. No 350 pump isn't held in the same way our BBB's are but its looked after.

In reality if you can work the Q-Jet and it works good don't give up on it. But what you should do is get the Q-Jet worked out get your best time on it, then try your builders tweaked Holley and see what happens. That is all you can do at this point. I am going on just simple logic for the new intake. The Q-Jet may just work fine with the intake, it just looks and makes more sense to have a square bore carb on it.
All opinions should be tested if we want to get our best results.

I had 1.75 60 fts. when I had the 3500 convertor in now with the new trans and a tighter 3000 stall convertor that has moved that up to the 1.88-1.95 range which I think is too slow and you can tell the difference between the two times by the seat of the pants.

    Justin,

As Marty stated I also had a similar issue. I would leave the line hit second and nose over. I found that the carb was sucking fuel faster than the pump was pushing it. Later I checked the PSI on the pump and it was 2.5 to 3 psi. When I revved the motor the engine came up to 3.5 to 4psi. This was no where near what was needed. I am looking for the video where I nosed over and it can be seen.

The RobMc pump sounds promising btw.

Sorry Chris:grin: When I went to look in on this thread, I was on page 6 not realizing there was a page 7, so I didn't see your post, but I am glad it is being taken care of.

X2, but crap happens, and Ken was a stand up guy and sent me the larger inlet/seat and needle, no worries:grin:
Besides it was fun going into my Q-Jet after 10 plus years, like going back in time, LOL, been in them a bazillion times, even the CCC ones, those are FACINATING!
Im odd, I like the road less traveled, that's why I love my Buicks:laugh:

I appreciate your positivity Mark. Thank you.

It seems that a few stock .125 needle and seats crept into the oversize n&s bin. A few performance builds done at that time had the same issue.

The bins have been sorted out. There should be no recurrence of this issue.

I stand by my work. When mistakes happen, I make it right.

Sorry for the hijack but since it was brought up I thought an explanation was in order.

you guys keep kicking butt with th sbb350!

    hey Ken
A stand up guy, thanks for all you do for us Buick guys.
Will you sell the large needle and seats separately? I could use a couple.

Sure am, not sure if it makes much of a difference but it is a WIX.

Trying my best to get a true before and after with only an intake swap. It just so happened that my weak links showed up at the worst, and same time. One thing at a time and it will get sorted.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm in the process of making a little temp pressure check line to see where I am really at. Your issue sounds all too similar to mine, if it is as easy as a fuel pump swap I'll call it a win.

Great looking/sounding car by the way!!

Hijack away Ken! If I can keep your build supplied with the proper amount of fuel I'm sure it will perform beautifully!

Update, checked out my fuel pump. Not sure if it's an over the counter item like I thought. Can't find a receipt for it.. the pump does have a chrome cover and non factory outlet position.

Hooked up a temp fuel line to read the pressure, 6.5-7 psi at idle. And when I rev it stays about the same. Hmmm

how much fuel in the tank when racing? Assumedly with your sticky tires. fuel slosh can be a problem that you may not experience on the street with your regular tires.

I'm going back to my previous here, but did you check the float height when you swapped out the Needle/seat? Set it to 9/32". If it is too low, then it could be your issue.

Bunch of us anxiously waiting to hear all the good news, haha. Since you are the Beta tester of the intake, all eyes are on you. Hang in there, it will all work out. Don't bail out on the quadrajet just yet!!

Thanks for the reply, first time the tank was 3/4 full, this last time it was just over a 1/4.

Hey Mark, I forgot to respond to this! I re adjusted and double checked the float. My measuring tool didn't go as fine as 9/32 but I got it to a 1/4 and gave it a few more bumps up. I kinda cheated a bit as well and shaved some material off of the baffle to allow for some more room.

I just spent about 30 minutes reading this thread and as one who saw and handled Justin's SP 3 intake in Norwalk, I will continue following this one. :TU:

Maintain the positive outlook Justin, and you'll be rewarded soon enough. :beers2: Had plenty of chuckles and laughs at some posts contained within as well.

You won't be able to tell just revving it no load. Extend the line and tape the gauge to the windshield. Then go for a ride.:TU:

    Justin,

It has been my experience that the stock paper fuel filter can't flow enough fuel once your combo reaches a certain level. You may want to put a better inline filter in and retest. I use a Qjet on an SP1 on a 455, no spacer (no room), wrong this and wrong that and the 3800 lb convertible still runs 10's. Don't overthink here - tank, sender, lines, pump and filter.
