Justin, that is what I did for my check, but your base line pressures appear to be better than mine. I would still extend the line to see what the fuel pressure is doing. another variable you may be able eliminate.
X2, Im sure the Q-Jet is far more capable than what Justin and me are going to achieve with our combos, being our builds are very similar and our times are just as closep Feed that carb. My Q-Jet motto: Come on bitch, lets get down to business:bglasses:
:TU: Your welcome Ken, Cant wait for Justin to get this all figured out so him and I can have a rematch on the track:grin: Hopefully I'll have my SP3 by then, otherwise he's gonna walk all over me:ball:
with an op open tank you should have minimum 3/4 tank when racing. 1/4 tank is way to low. Also you must test the fuel pressure under sustained WOT.
Oh man, that was my secret surprise haha. Well things are in place for the full throttle test with my new incognito windshield gauge. Looks like my little checker line will hold up. Once this rain cloud passes I'm out for some testing.
Don't get me thinkin:spank: NONONO, Im keeping my 3.42'sp I am casually considering MAYBE a roller cam upgrade this winter, MAYBE tho:bglasses:
I like the spirt of competition. I discussed the 390 option with Justin the other day.:TU: Sorry Justin. I just need to make mark contemplate his next move... lol
I think everyone with a 2004r trans would love the high spirit of 390's. 75 on xway...NO PROBLEM!. :bglasses: You can run them! Best reason for an overdrive swap!
Hey you get that roller cam and I'll really be struggling to keep up!! Well since the cat is out of the bag I PM'd Mart and TX about 3.90 to get some feelers haha. The old dual plane is going up for sale soon and that is going to help fund some gears! Update on the test.. It was a success in the bad kinda way. 7psi of fuel at idle, dropping in passing gear it falls slowly to 2 psi, and from a hole shot it falls straight to 2psi. Going to let things cool down a bit and the pump is coming off for dissection. Can a pump fail suddenly mid run on a track? I guess anything is possible but it would make a lot of sense since it hasn't worked right since.
Justin, Think of it this way.. The carb bowl is a reservoir of gas.. once the engine starts demanding fuel, the fuel pump has to keep that reservoir full. When the bowl runs low, the car noses over. Typically, in second gear sometime.. The pump is the issue, but not directly the cause.. the cause of the stumble/nose over is a lack of fuel. The lack of fuel cause is the pump.. This should help you understand why you can go to mid track, and have an issue. Your findings fit your symptoms- get a better pump on there and leave the test setup in place, and then re-test so you know what a good one looks like. JW
Thanks for the assistance Jim, Del has gratuitously sent me a replacement and will test when it arrives.
Justin Now THATS the trick setup from the coast. I've always used a passenger holding it in his lap. gary
I try to keep it new and exciting, I tried to hood mount the thing but nothing really worked out! should I get rid of it? The only option I know is the Wix, or a whole other type of filter assembly. May have, going to see how this new pump goes, if I'm still having pressure issues I'll investigate further. This stuff started to come of at sixddy haha. If the tank comes out again my trunk is getting an access plate. Not sure if I dislike removing transmissions or fuel tanks more..
I'd rather pull a Trans than a gas tank. Sorry that's not helping haha. , if you can get access to speed tape (aluminum tape) that stuff will hold to sixhunned
