Nice looking engine. What do you figure the numbers are on it? HP? Torque? Is that yet another tri-state Limemist GSX in the background? If so, I believe that would make five between Ct, NY, NJ.
Has anyone put one of these aluminum outfitted motors on a scale. Gotta be close to 500 lbs. Are those stock Buick alum. rockers? How much invested in this motor?
Defintely 430 rockers, 1.59 to 1 ratio, and adj. pushrods. That's what I'm using on my engine. Of course I do have '67 430 heads.
Cool! Looks like what I'm planning on doing. Any port work done on those heads? Give us some HP estimates and combo specs!
yes those are 430 rockers , im going to get rollers but i had to cut the budget somewhere . i have around 6 grand in the motor . the heads are port matched to the intake which was a ton of grinding on the sp1, also the chambers are worked .the compression is 11-1 with TA s 210s hl solid cam . i dont have the cam card on me right now im guessing its going to make around 550 to 650 horse im going to dyno it on a chassis dyno when i get a chance.mike
With a solid cam and only adjustable pushrods how are you going to adjust the valves after the engine is run in? I am going to be running a combination similar to yours but with the 290-08h hyd. cam and roller rockers. Keep us posted of the dyno numbers!!!!!!!!!!!
Just gotta Luv a great 455 . Let us know when you light it off !! Man that looks beautiful !! Great work . Steve
I asked the same thing before. Jim B. said you just have to pull a valve cover, and the adjusters are right there. I'm really tempted to drop a 210s in my motor, but I have a feeling it will be hard enough to hook it up with the combination I'm building. Maybe a future upgrade. Mike, What block mods have you done to handle that kind of power? Girdle, deep pan, main studs?
I probably wont go that radical, but I do want the aluminum heads and I was wondering how it'd look with the black block... I'd also be interested to see if the old "black blocks run hotter" myth is true or not. Nice job :TU:
